Hershel's TR to Spain Part 1 Barcelona and Girona
« on: November 17, 2014, 04:30:54 PM »
March 2014

I landed in GRO airport from Marrakech with Ryanair

Stayed at the RIUDELLOTS DE LA SELVA Hotel in Girona.

Day 1. GIRONA.

Girona old city is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe, the Kall or Jewish quarter in spain, (Kall=Kehilla) has been unchanged since the 12th century, many Rishonim, including the Rabeinu Yonah walked the narrow alleyways that I walked in the city. There are some doors that still have Mezuzah holes.

There is also a Jewish museum that has a collection of Tomb Stones with inscriptions from Pre Inquisition times.
Afaik there is no kosher in Girona.

There is also a synagogue and Mikvah that was recently discovered.

I overnighted in Girona then headed to Barcelona in the morning, there's an hourly train to Barcelona and the ride takes about an hour.

I ate at Shalom kosher restaurant,  the food was Ok, but very well presented.
Below are pictures of the kosher mini market, they don't sell many products and doesn't always have Kosher Milk.

Also, that drink is a traditional Spanish drink called Sangria. Made from chopped fruit and red wine. Yum

In Barcelona I attended the WMC show, where the Galaxy S5 was revealed. I stayed in Barcelona for 2 days and then headed to Fra, drove over to Michalshtadt, and returned to Jfk with SQ business class.  SQ Biz is far better than many First class cabins in every way. After flying SQ Suite last week I decided that the SQ Biz is just perfect for flying in comfort. The food was from Hermalis, which was amazing. I wish they would serving something similar out of New York also, or why can't they just import them to New York???

The seat converts into a bed, was very comfortable, On Par with SQ suites.
