Would presume Jan 1 and the issue was they ran out of miles purchased for 2014 or something similar

Maybe the proper term is booking, but here on DDF most call a hold a hold and if you ticketed it "I booked it" or "I ticketed it".

There is a whole procedure to use miles for family, but once it is done, you are good to go.

I have 35,000 of my miles in an account of a business partner of mine, what would be the best use of them if I am not flying KE?
