how long is the wait by the border going to montreal on average? do they do anything more than scanning your passport?

It took us about ten minutes to get into Canada. They scanned our passports, asked us to open our windows and they looked inside from the booth.

I went to Montreal/Mont Tremblant last week as a road trip with my husband and 4 kids ages 5, 7, 8 and 9. Here's what we did:

Sunday: Drive from NJ to Star Trek Experience in Ticonderoga. Fun if you have a star trek fan, all others should skip it. Then drive to Montreal.

We stayed at the Residence Inn downtown. It was perfect for what we needed. Pull out couch was small, there was no oven and parking is in the building behind the hotel. They had some kosher cereal but that's about it. Also, no disposable utensils.

Monday: Archaelogy Museum (really interesting and fun!) followed by an Amphi-Bus tour. They do a little city tour and then go into the water. Definitely worthwhile. We ate out in Pizza Pita and had delicious poutine.

Tuesday: Montreal Science Center, then we rented a 6 person bike, drove to Cheskie's (lives up to the hype), went to a view point on Mont Royal, ate dinner at Ernie and Ellie and drove to Mont Tremblant.

We stayed at the Residence Inn there - it's a beautiful hotel. Parking is really tight. We had a first floor room with a regular door that we could use on shabbos. This one had a full size pull out couch in addition to the two full beds in a separate room and had a full kitchen. The front door of the hotel was also manual. Same breakfast situation as the first.

Wednesday: It was raining in Mont Tremblant so we drove to Ottawa. We took a tour of the Mint, went to Rideau Bakery, then went to Parliament. My kids didn't want to do a tour so we walked around the grounds. The city is incredibly beautiful and I want to go back. We slept in Mont Tremblant.

Thursday: We went canoeing on the Rouges River. The water is calm and shallow and very easy to canoe in. Definitely a highlight!

Friday: We did all the village activites - we rode the Luge, did euro bungy, took the gondola to the top of the mountain, walked to the view point, saw the Birds of Prey show (definitely a highlight - the birds fly through the audience), took a short hike to a waterfall, half of us went to laser tag, the other half went to the spray park, we drove the Cabriolet a million times then got ready for shabbat. My husband davened at Chabad friday night (5 minute walk).

Saturday: We davened at chabad and enjoyed their kiddush. The chabad Rabbi and Rebbetzin are awesome. Then we went back to our hotel, played games, walked around the village, took my kids to the playground. There are also concerts going on all around the village.

Sunday: we bought seasons passes to Six Flags and activated them at LaRonde. Unfortunately, it was raining a lot so we only went on a few rides before leaving, but now we have cheap seasons passes. Then we drove home.

It's really beautiful in Canada. We didn't change any money. There's a ton to do and we would go back in a heartbeat.

Cheskies is a bakery, they have very good cakes especially the cheese products, (yes it’s better than Kleinbkats in Antwerp), & just simple machine coffee, they also make sandwiches, but no sitting place.

will see about that. I happen to think kleinblatt is overrated, but it's definitely very good.

So will pass by for some cheese products and coffee, that works thanks

I see 2 Yakimono Sushi places. One is the regular original one and the other one is an express booth in a store on Park Ave.

Wanna stop by on way to airport, is the Express one that same quality as the regular store?

No. It’s not like the original BTW Yakimono does deliveries.

Was in Pizza Gourmetti, food was amazing, all made on the spot and fresh. Prices are reasonable. The wait time wasn't long but it does take some time because all is made in house.

The garlic knots [garlic bread] had nothing to do with garlic but was nevertheless good.

Logistics Q:

AC LAX-YUL landing at 335 PM (rev ticket).
KL YUL-AMS-TLV departing at 650 PM (promo award ticket).
There is an interline agreement between AC and KL so they should be able to check the bags all the way through to TLV, but given the 2 diff airlines and a 13 hr layover in AMS, I'm thinking I may be better off retrieving bags in YUL and rechecking to minimize the chance of them getting lost. Any thoughts? Also I think I will most likely have to recheck in anyways to retrieve boarding passes in YUL. CSRs not giving me a straight answer.

Also, we would like to pick up some food over the layover in case our KSMLs don't make it aboard, also my kid has food allergies so I can't rely on their meals anyways (planning to bring some shelf stable stuff as a backup but I'd rather have fresh food if I can swing it.

We were thinking of getting pizza pita delivered to YUL- it seems like it's pretty close- or if they wont deliver, just getting it Ubered. But then Cheskies looks really good, and it would be perfect for breakfast when we land in AMS since there arent really breakfast places. And I dont want to spend the whole layover shlepping out to the kosher areas (definitely going to Sal Meijer for lunch). But cheskies doesnt really have a menu, and I feel like it would be easier to see what they have there rather than just ordering over the phone.

Would getting an uber at YUL then driving to cheskies and pizza pita then back to YUL be feasible in my time frame, especially if I have to recheck bags? I would uber alone and leave my wife and kid at the airport, it would definitely take too long if I have to start dealing with the carseat. Or just get one uber driver to do both pickups then drive to YUL? Or two separate orders, two separate uber drivers?
We all have global entry/precheck/flying in business so priority boarding, so that should make it quicker to get past security.
But I've only ever transited through Canada, never left the airport so not sure how lunch border patrol etc takes.
