Rechecking the bags is unlikely to help. Once the tags are on it they're on it. Should be able to get all boarding passes in LGA but depends on the individual check in agent competency levels.

I don't think you'll have any shortage of time in YUL if you land on time, just wondering why schlep from the airport when the food won't be any fresher than whatever you can pick up in NYC before.

One thing is for sure, there is no good breakfast in Amsterdam

LAX, not LGA. So food would be fresher if we order when were there. And I wanted to try new food, heard good things about pizza pita/cheskies.

About the bags, I would just have them tag them to YUL, and then recheck them in YUL tagging to AMS-TLV. Unless we just check them all the way thru.

Logistics Q:

AC LAX-YUL landing at 335 PM (rev ticket).
KL YUL-AMS-TLV departing at 650 PM (promo award ticket).

There is an interline agreement between AC and KL so they should be able to check the bags all the way through to TLV, but given the 2 diff airlines and a 13 hr layover in AMS, I'm thinking I may be better off retrieving bags in YUL and rechecking to minimize the chance of them getting lost. Any thoughts? Also I think I will most likely have to recheck in anyways to retrieve boarding passes in YUL. CSRs not giving me a straight answer.

Also, we would like to pick up some food over the layover in case our KSMLs don't make it aboard, also my kid has food allergies so I can't rely on their meals anyways (planning to bring some shelf stable stuff as a backup but I'd rather have fresh food if I can swing it.

We were thinking of getting pizza pita delivered to YUL- it seems like it's pretty close- or if they wont deliver, just getting it Ubered. But then Cheskies looks really good, and it would be perfect for breakfast when we land in AMS since there arent really breakfast places. And I dont want to spend the whole layover shlepping out to the kosher areas (definitely going to Sal Meijer for lunch). But cheskies doesnt really have a menu, and I feel like it would be easier to see what they have there rather than just ordering over the phone.

Would getting an uber at YUL then driving to cheskies and pizza pita then back to YUL be feasible in my time frame, especially if I have to recheck bags? I would uber alone and leave my wife and kid at the airport, it would definitely take too long if I have to start dealing with the carseat. Or just get one uber driver to do both pickups then drive to YUL? Or two separate orders, two separate uber drivers?
We all have global entry/precheck/flying in business so priority boarding, so that should make it quicker to get past security.
But I've only ever transited through Canada, never left the airport so not sure how lunch border patrol etc takes.

1. Afternoon there’s a lot of traffic going into the city, it will be very tight for you to go alone, rather order ubereat as soon as you land.

2. Either way you have to collect your luggage and go through customs before dropping them off at the connecting belt.

Impossible to do- too much traffic in the afternoon. You probably won't even have enough time to go to the kosher bakeries in Dollard des Ormeaux (community close to the airport) to get food. Perhaps have those bakeries uber food to the airport. Cheskies will have to wait until your next visit

What would you say the total cost is to drive round trip from Brooklyn to Montreal? A normal size car (not compact or SUV) including all tolls.

Thanks

Tolls- IIRC, it's pretty much just whatever you pay for bridges out of Brooklyn plus $5-10 each way for the time you'll be on the NYS Thruway. I think you can take a free bridge into Montreal.

Gas- Just under 800 miles round trip. Figure out what MPG you get (maybe around 40 MPG on mostly highway driving if you have a new car), divide 800 miles by your MPG and multiply that by current gas prices.

New place Chanoch's sushi owned by South Korean jew

It’s not new, bean there for a while, (it’s even on the wiki), and his sushi is absolutely phenomenal, he’s actually a professional trained sushi chef with lots of experience in the non-kosher world, plus he’s very creative & willing to accommodate any type of order... I know him personally for a number of years now...

Was in Pizza Gourmetti, food was amazing, all made on the spot and fresh. Prices are reasonable. The wait time wasn't long but it does take some time because all is made in house.

The garlic knots [garlic bread] had nothing to do with garlic but was nevertheless good.
Thanks for your recommendation just finished there true gem in the Montreal Kosher eatery space, whatever we had was super delicious I would assume their whole menu would do. Gourmet food with family friendly touch.
We had personal pie, 3 cheese poutine, Tuna Panini, ceasar salad

I have a 3 hr layover in YUL and I am trying to get Cheskie's and Pizza Pita delivered to the airport. I know I can use Uber, but I'm hesitant because of the higher chance of something going wrong with 2 pickups.

Would any DDFer be interested in picking up food for us and delivering to YUL? I would obviously compensate.
Or if you know anyone that may be interested, please PM me.
