Would you consider my prices a small premium? It's about  2x or 3.5x more expensive base in my numbers!
To me yes, you're already spending (a minimum of)10-15X more than that for the trip itself, might as well enjoy it fully. Besides in raw $, you're talking about ~$50 (gas included). That's one meal at a cheap restaurant.

You can find a car in YUL for 27 hours for $50 including gas? Link? Cheapest I found was $59 before gas.

I kinda agree with Yehoshua, though I am single and perfectly fine using the public trans system in other cities. If his wife doesn't mind why not, besides no need to look for or pay for parking when you go to downtown, these things all add up.

Interesting. Firstly it's true, I have a kid so it's not even a question. My wife and I did use public transport throughout Europe but the dynamics are changed there (Public transport is generally excellent, driving & parking is generally much more difficult and car pricing more prohibitive).

I respect someone's choice to use it, I just don't think it's worthwhile for the money. If it seems more convenient, no problem. To me it would limit the places I would visit (can't drive up Mt. Royal or go to the lookout, can't easily access whichever restaurant you want to, need to leave extra leeway time on each excursion and getting back to airport in case there is a metro problem etc).

True, taking public transportation does mean allowing extra time to get places. As far as Mount Royal the 11 bus goes to the top AFAIK. It might make some stops, but it'll be a holiday so use should be lighter than a normal day. I still haven't decided for sure, but I'm leaning towards public transit.

Quick, best rolls at Yakimono?

Here is Dan's review from Montreal TR, I'm not a fish fan myself.

Yakimono Sushi Bar: Incredible sushi and well priced as well.
I’m really not such a big sushi fan and would never touch raw fish with a 10 foot pole. We went here as an afterthought but it was well worth it.
Yakimono is clean and sleek looking restaurant. I got a fried sushi roll (10 pieces for $11) with salmon, mango, and avocado with fried tempura which was amazing. They serve their Sushi with a number of sauces (The sweet sauce was awesome!). The nice portion of fries ($4) were well-spiced and very good.
The only disappointment was the Hot Apple Crumble with Ice Cream ($8) that was overdone and consisted mostly of just dry crumble.

If you still need, the Geisha roll and dynamite are my favorites.

Hard to go wrong with whatever you get...
Hope I'm still on time for desert though :) The Lava cake is amazing and most people swear by the cigars though we didn't find them too exciting.

Our meal was amazing. We were thinking of Sprinkles for dessert. Worth it?

Sprinkz is very good frozen yogurts, though not really dessert like you would get in yakimono bar. More of a snack type.

Ture, but I'm very picky when it comes to non dairy desserts.

Just sampled Sprinklz and we were not very impressed. None of the flavors tasted like what they were supposed to be. We'll just stick to Toppings in LA.

That's bad luck, they switch their flavors very often, some are great and some are what i think of as more experimental. When I was there they had an excellent cookie dough flavor on the offerings. And they also had some good ones in the fridge at 50 percent off.

I guess it also depends what you're comparing it to. They had Cookie dough (sugar free) which I didn't bother tasting  because I can't stand sugar free anything. My wife did and said it was bland. The Khalua flavor didn't taste like Khalua, but I will admit the mango sorbet was good.
