Potential to fly an airline not between it's home city.
They're cool :)
Just for kicks? Just to say you did it?

The ability to try out different things that may otherwise not be possible, such as flying in a suite without going halfway around the world.

That too. But it really comes into play when there is a luxurious airline flying on a route that otherwise you wouldn't be able to get. Say jfk to Vancouver either you can spend the same many points on some crap american airline or u can get pajamas with cx

Since Dubai changed policies allowing to carry rocket propelled grenades in the airport, some people are afraid to fly into DXB.
But they can still try EK's on board shower by flying HKG-BKK on the A380.

Where can I check for QF availability JFK-LAX? Will it show up as available if I only search JFK-LAX on BA if it is available?

If you can't book that flight, how can BA show it as available?

I guess with some hacking it should be bookable. My question is how can I see availability? Is availability as brutal as LAX-MLE?

My guess would be that more seats are available, as many people only board at LAX, but I doubt it has different availability then it's following flight LAX-MEL, CMIIW.

Also FYI, from what I know, it's a aircraft change to a smaller plane.

Availability is a bit better.
They fly the 747 without F, I believe its the plane that comes from BNE.

Pretty sure that even if you book it you wont be able to book without evidence of either having arrived from Oz on a QF flight or are departing on one. A refundable ticket might do the job

-.5 it's not a klal, this plane brings people to LAX but these people continue to three different Australian airports,so in  most cases these flights are packed, I've heard several times that it's was almost empty, but whenever I flew there was barely any empty seats

I flew it before and got a full row of 4 seats to myself!(I wasn't the only one with a full row to myself.)

I said that, usually is the LAX-NYC and not the LAX-NYC with the empty flights, but I never had such a thing from my 4 flights
