*wood hotels in NYC

Ill be visiting NYC late JAN and i was looking into going to a *wood hotel there for maybe 2 nights... Just from personal experiences.. which would be the best hotel to go to- are the hotels with more starpoints any better? or their just ranked higher.. is it worth going to one of those.. or is it better to go to another hotel.....
just wondering... ive never been to hotels in NY and im clueless in which are better than others

Well you can go to the St. Regis for 30k a night :D

well.. thats a lotta points. is it worth it to go for one night to 30k hotel? or rather go 2 nights to a "lesser" points hotel. i would think its better to go for 2 nights instead of one night- unless that hotel is sumthin to die for....?
