Sprint just offered to buy my iPhone 6 back for $670 if I switch to an iPhone lease ($5 for 2 years). Any reason why not to take them up on it?

Is there any other plan I can get with a dumb phone for under $50? I don't need any data at all.
Do you need a plan?  There are quite a few prepaid, no contract 'plans' for under $50 for talk and text.

Yes. Because the phone does not remain yours and if you ever choose to leave sprint you will have to finish paying for the phone.
