FREE CALLING CARD TO CANADA
« on: December 26, 2010, 12:22:22 PM »
I just tried this and I think it's pretty cool.

Call 718-924-2300 and it will ask for the destination number. Then simply dial any canadian number and you will be connected free of charge! No ads!

I called (using *67) and it said "please enter your extension number"...

Didn't work.

I wonder what they're harvesting numbers for?

They are not harvesting numbers.

No specific advantage over google voice except this is much easier. No account or software needed.

How do you know? Do you know who's behind it?

canada is the cheapest long distance calls. it makes sence that they would limit it to canada.

They know the number is live and in use. They also know you like calling Canada for free.

My friend was using some Israeli cheap telephone service to call me here in the US, I started getting calls with a recorded message advertising cheap calling plans to Israel. I'm sure it was targeted.

I know the person who does this personally for many years. There is absolutely no system in place to harvest (keep track of) numbers (for future marketing purposes).

They have a reason for doing it for free. Maybe sometime down the line there will be a short advertisement but it won't happen anytime soon. For the meantime, feel free to use it and enjoy free calling to Canada!

Disclosure is the way to go. If you stated so in the first post I'd trust what you wrote.

I only researched it after you asked and then found out they don't harvest. And I can prove to you they don't harvest because soon you will be able to use it even if your caller ID is blocked.
