Best nyc airport for plane spotting?

I want to take my kids to see the airport and planes. Between the 3 major nyc airports, where is the best spot? It has to be indoors.

Not so much traffic, but Westchester HPN has a nice viewing area, with big windows watching the runway and boarding area.

Can you stay in the car?

If arrivals are using Runway 4 at La Guardia, you can listen to (http://www.liveatc.net/ to find out, head on over to Plane View Park. It is directly across the Threshold for the runway and aircraft are approximately 150 feet overhead. It is by far my most favorite spot.

If aircraft are using the Expressway Visual Runway 31 Approach or are departing off of runway 13 you can also watch them from the Flushing Bay Promenade.

For JFK, if arrivals are using Runway 31L you can head over to the Five Towns Shopping center and park in the parking lot to watch the arrivals. The benefit to this area is that you get to see bigger aircraft as opposed to La Guardia. Aircraft are a bit higher up at approximately 300 Feet above.

For JFK, if arrivals are using Runway 31L you can head over to the Five Towns Shopping center and park in the parking lot to watch the arrivals. The benefit to this area is that you get to see bigger aircraft as opposed to La Guardia. Aircraft are a bit higher up at approximately 300 Feet above.

Lol! I live in Inwood right across from JFK runway 31_13 and work across the water from LGA so I'm not amazed by the planes anymore but whenever I have family over or people come out to my business, they always comment. Maybe I'll post some pics soon.

The cafeteria in IKEA by Newark Airport has a nice viewing window of the runways by Newark airport.

You could always watch the private jets coming in and out of Teterboro. They are a lot of places to sit and watch in the area.

I never went into Ikea but I have watched from the parking lot. I have gotten stopped by Police and Security there.
