Amazon Prime Pantry
« on: November 30, 2014, 12:31:17 PM »
Do you ever use Prime Pantry?

Are there any good deals to justify to the $5.99 shipping fee?

They are currently offering one free pantry box when you add 3 select items to your Pantry box

I did.

I just dont understand how its sustainable to give practicably a %100 rebate on small orders.

Update: Buried on the 2nd page of terms is this:
A maximum of $5.99 per Prime Pantry order can be redeemed from this Offer.
So there’s no limit to how many $5.99 credits you can earn, but you can only redeem one per order.

So now it makes sense as they are basically giving you free shipping on Pantry orders (still a good deal but nowhere near as lucrative)

Prime pantry is a scam to squeeze $6 more out of Prime members for items that should have free shipping. It's an "enhanced" version of "add-on item" which Amazon first used to circumvent Prime members getting small/cheap items with free 2-day shipping.

As far as Amazon shopping goes, Amazon keeps diluting the value of Prime. Granted when it comes to content (books/video/music) they added stuff to Prime all the time, if you only use Prime for the shopping benefits it's irrelevant.

I will never understand Amazon's terrible business strategy of bundling completely unrelated services together.

Prime bundles free shipping, a music/video service, and photo storage.
Amazon Fire, a (terrible) phone that comes with a year of free shipping.

As a customer, when Amazon first bundled "free' video streaming to Prime, and then raised the price, I felt like I was scammed.
Same about the Fire phone. Instead of offering "free year of Prime", just lower the price.
Why bundle something completely unrelated which raises the price?

The bundling of Prime actually makes sense to me, it's kinda like an Amazon loyalty program, and an opportunity to introduce you to their other revenue streams (e.g. Kindle, Fire, VOD etc.).

Honestly, i'm really not getting why this is all that good of a deal.. It appears that all you get is free shipping on a prime pantry order.. Prime pantry even with free shipping is a ripoff.. Dan in the comments on DDMS pretty much agrees that you can't stack them together and isn't sure if you can use it together with a free shipping promo to get a discount on the items..

There are actually some items that are cheapest through Prime Pantry.

I recently checked my local grocery, and shoprite- Heinz ketchup (Charmin Ultrasoft tissues were also cheapest) was almost $1 cheaper through prime pantry. Of course you'd need to order quite a few to justify the shipping price, but now with the credit it'll be worth it.

Pantry has lots of items that are cheaper than other big stores ie. Walmart, target, Costco. Just like everywhere else, not all items are cheap. Do your homework.

I'm confused by this quote from DDMS

Chaim Says:
3
March 25th, 2015 at 9:28 am

The credits can stack together?

“A maximum of $5.99 per Prime Pantry order can be redeemed from this Offer”

then Dan answers:

@Chaim:
 Indeed :(

It seems to me that Dan is saying that the $5.99 credit can indeed stack together but the post clearly says they can't be stacked. And why is Dan's emoji so sad?

ETA: Okay, so I read it over and it seems as if these credits cannot be stacked and the "indeed" must have been answering some other question, not the "The credits can stack together?"

 :( :( :(
