If your Samsung Galaxy S5 may not find or be able to connect to a specific 5Ghz wireless network, you may want to check which channel the network is operating on. The S5 has problems when trying to connect to DFS-channels (Dynamic Frequency Selection).

DFS-channels are basically every channel from channel 52 and up. Try setting your AP to a channel between 36-48 (inc.), and then try reconnecting your S5.

I googled it also.. not sure exactly what that mean/how to do it. What I'd really like to know is how to do it on a hotspot created by my laptop.. running Windows 10

In Israel using Golan on a Galaxy s8 and I keep getting messages that I may have a new WhatsApp message, and BBM messages also only come in if I open the app. The data saver is off. Any other ideas ?

In routers, this should be an option in the WiFi settings. For the PC I doubt you'll be able to do it.

Don't you have 2.4 too?

Only 5Ghz.. in the hotspot settings it warns me that not all devices can pick it up but doesn't give me an option to change it .. seems to be that it'll only create a signal similar to what it's receiving

try putting the phone into airplane mode. This app has been useful for me in the past try shutting down antenna selecting Verizon network and it may load on its own https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mangelow.network

@yoshyosh

1. I tried turning on airplane mode didn't work.
2. The play store app is not found.
3. I even tried this:
"Go to Dial Number and type *#*#4636#*#* for the hidden (info)menu in Android<br />
- touch 'phone information'<br />
- search for 'Set preferred network' or something like that (I'm from Belgium so my phone is in the Dutch language)<br />
- change 'WCDMA preferred' to 'CDMA auto (prl)'<br />
- you're good to go and you can save your APNs now :) (after changing, they worked without the need of manual editing)"

But after trying the *#*#4636#*#*  and clicking phone menu this came up

So my son just dropped my phone - an LG Fiesta (which I think is the LG Power X 2) - and now it won't turn on. The screen itself looks like it's on (a slight blueish background), but nothing else, no graphics, etc. It also is getting pretty hot. Any ideas? TIA!

at the very least you'll need a new screen, did it get wet?

Not at all. Also, it's not hot anymore.

These are pretty cheap (59.99 on ebay/best buy) might not be worth fixing unless you have important information on it.

True - it's not the phone, it's what's on it...

אל תסתכל בקנקן if it has screws (it probably does at this price point) you can swap out the screens yourself if you are a tad handy.

Exactly... I'm handy, but I've never done anything like this before. I also saw online the possibility that a connection came loose when it was dropped, and just may need to be connected. How can I get the back off to check if it's a non-removable back?

On my Instagram account today was an ad for something I had searched for yesterday on chrome. Where, if possible would I find the settings to block that info from travelling?
