1,700 AA Points Short for AA Platinum Status
« on: December 01, 2014, 06:18:13 PM »
Hey - I am 1,704 Points short of obtaining AA Platinum Status. Any quick/easy ideas for getting there? Is it worth the money for a mileage run to get there?
Thanks for your help!

How often do you plan to fly next year?

If most of your tickets will be on American, it very well could be worth it.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

Thanks for the response!

I don't fly that often, but I do go to Hong Kong once or twice a year on Cathay (one world). I think that with the Platinum 100% mileage bonus, it would be easy to maintain the status... However, I have no need to travel before the end of the year, so I was really wondering if there are any feasible ways to get 1,704 points without taking a mileage run.

1700 miles is not really that much.. What airports would you fly out of?

The mileage bonus won't help you maintain status. Its RDM, not EQM.

They have counted in the past towards YTD Elite Qualifying Points.
