I am flying on AA (booked w/ BA avios) to JFK. Would owning this card extend 'First bag flies free' perk to my trip?
(I know I can add my USAir dividends # through Finair)

Thank you!

If the system rejects the app because it detects that you have the card/ had the card recently,  it will not pull your credit.  If you convince a recon rep to consider your app anyways,  he will pull your credit.

Well then it should be a pull for every card you get (aside from MBM'ing).

IME if you downgraded your previous one you should be fine as long as it's not showing up online anymore as the original card.
If you already tried applying and were rejected the system also will block you within 30 days.

Are you talking about downgrading the U.S. Air card , or some other BARCLAYS card ?

You mean I can downgrade my 2 month old second in 14 months US AIR card and apply for a new
One and hopefully get approved by recon ?

WAs denied twice last month as existing cardholder and after 5 Hucas

YMMV. If you're going to have to recon, your chances for being approved are higher if you don't currently have the US Airways card. Still, you'll have to convince them they should give you a new card even though you just downgraded it (it worked for me, but I don't think it is so simple always).

Really have little to lose . Cut my total BARCLAYS CL from 25 K to 15 . Will downgrade US air card as soon as some  referral points post and drop my CL to 5 K or less

With 10 K CL or less , better chance for auto approval

I used to think the same but apparently, recently they've been getting stricter with those who downgraded as well.

This is an ever changing game.

I agree, but just wanted to point out that my experience was from last week, so it's still possible.

Thanks for the data point. My story is a little different but that still gives me hope.

I applied around March (35k/0AF) downgraded in June. Reapplied in June (40k/89AF) canceled in November. Reapplied in November, declined.

I'm hoping to reapply just before this credit card disappears (assuming we get some notice. I almost pulled the trigger on 01/18 but I held myself back).
