Yes
Then assuming that you also made a purchase with the card, your points should post within a few days after your next statement closes.
Also,  if you downgrade within 60 days of the annual fee posting, you'll be refunded automatically.

Downgraded my card 2 weeks ago and it is still on my online profile. Hopefully won't hurt chances for another round of the card.

For those that got the annual fee waived and the miles and are keeping the card for the year, I just got letter saying the U.S. air card is being changed to American Aviator card in coming months and if u go into ur Barclay account online and click top right corner for promos u can activate a 50% bonus up to 10000 AA miles for spending done until 6/31. Basically redcard a bit and u got 10000 AA miles

But there are better uses with RedCard...

Really? That time frame seems very out of the ordinary. What did you downgrade to? Did you receive the new card yet?

Consolidated the CL into my arrivals card.

ETA: typing that makes me wonder if that means it shows as a closure rather than a downgrade.

Seems as such.  Now I wonder if I can still apply for another one and get instant approval...

Its unlikely...  But you don't loose anything because if it's not instantly approved you won't get a hard pull

A few questions:

1) Wife can't downgrade US airways b/c of some BS promotion they added a few weeks ago. Anyone get around this? Can you get a promotion removed?

2) If she can't get it downgraded whats the best bet? Reapply with the first still open or cancel the first and try to reapply again? If I apply for a new one when the 1st is still open and get denied will they see that I tried that if I then cancel the card and reapply with the first card now closed, or since theres no credit pull its like it never happened??

2) I was able to get my wife approved for her second US Airways, while the first was still open. It was an instant approval. She had the card for a little over 4 months. How long has she had the card?

There doesnt seem to be a general consensus regarding 2nd cards--downgrade, close, apply with multiple currently open, etc.

Opened in July 14, and awesome that your wife got lucky, but I thought generally applying with current open was no good for this card?

Ideally I'd like us each to go for the offer twice before it closes-unlikely but hey-why not...

That's exactly why I applied. Aside from her 1st US Airways, her TU report was clean. So "why not"--another pull, but totally worth it if approved, IMO.
