I was met with fantastic success today with my US AIR card. I had missed the 60 days to downgrade and was looking to get them to refund the AF. So I got on Twitter and got a DM asking me what time is good for them to call. They called and I told them how it didn't seem fair to charge me the AF for a card that I never intended to have (aviator) and they were like benefits benefits blah blah blah. But I pushed politely and the rep offers half the AF as statement credit, I asked if she could offer similar in miles and she offered me 10k no spend!

After a phone call with same reasoning they also offered half the AF. I did not think to push them on a miles equivalent compensation and said No. Hoping to get the full refund when calling back or doing the same later today.

Resilience paid off this time. Called, got them to downgrade to the Arrival No-fee with 1k points and refund me the $89. All good.

i applied for the us airways CC on March 30th and was approved on the 31st. I still do not see the $89 fee as posted or the 50k bonus miles. Should i be concerned?

The annual fee will hit your account when the first statement posts. Then, once you pay your bill (and annual fee), you will get the 50,000 points on your next statement. If you want to expedite that process, I believe that if you prepay the annual fee now before it posts, then when your first statement closes, it will recognize that you paid the annual fee and give you the bonus miles right away. 99.9% sure that would work, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Finally called recon (applied in late March), and was told that since I've had 5 cards in 5 years, that they can't approve me. Even though I haven't had the card in 14 months.
Anyone else face this hurdle successfully?

So what is the best way to get a credit for the annual fee? Twitter or phone call?
