US Airways MasterCard Now Offering 50,000 Miles

Same problem as Y'all. I have card now... I see 3 options
1)Call tonight for 10k, wait for points and hope card is still around after I downgrade and then reapply
2) Try a voldemort and apply with existing card (I got card about 5 months ago)
3)downgrade tonight and reapply early next week
Which one?

I've got another option. Get the 10k pending, downgrade now to the lower version -and still get the pending points to post since it's still a US card (not sure on that one)- apply for a new US card.
My only question is, do I have the same chances of approval getting the lower US, or the Arrival will do better?
IOW. Has anyone who has the lower US card heard from recon "you have this card already"?

you made a mistake of accepting the 5k offer already.
Normally, once you accepted one retention offer, they won't give you a 2nd one.
They could tell you well, I see that you called and we already gave you 5k offer and I don't have anything else.

Next time, be smart and don't accept something right away on first call unless the offer is really good!

The 5k is a "retention" offer after $1,000 spend, while the 10k is a "match" after the original $1 spend,
I just got off the phone with an extremely nice CR who after matching me the 10k, went ahead and checked what else she could offer me and confirmed that I'll get the extra 5k to a total of 55k after $1k spend.

When was it? (I think they might be easier now)

I even got retention twice.
1st phone call 5k/1k
2nd phone call double miles on gas and utilities.

Sent an SM to be matched since I haven't received the card yet and got the following response:

Just downgraded 2 annual fee cards for two no fee cards

I applied for the 40k offer a few weeks ago for my wife and was declined. Didn't call recon yet. Should I just apply for the 50k offer? This way even if I get an instant decline for duplicate apps I can call recon for the 2nd app instead of reconning for the first and then working to get it matched?

I just tried that, didn't work. They will see that you applied in the past 30 days and instant count this as a duplicate.

Update for everyone this will be calling in to recon to match to 50,000. (Maybe should be updated on DDMS as well).

All the CS agents at Barclays have just now (in the last half hour) received a new memo. The memo is about the 50,000 offer. For all callers who are current existing cardmembers, that are asking to match to the offer. If you received the card after 11/1 you will be getting a manual adjustment on your account for the additional 10k miles. If you got it before this date, they will create a BPM file on your account, which will be reviewed later on, possibly you will get it, but probably not. I had the rep Meadow basically read to me the entire memo.

My Mom's account was opened on 11/5 so she is eligible for the 10k extra bh! Took three calls to finally get this info about the memo, First call I asked to speak to account specialist, and rep insisted on speaking to them on my behalf, after a while call got disconnected. Second call, when I asked to be transferred to account specialist, they transferred me to US Air reservations .. Third call, was a success.
