Cheapest/best way to "park" a cell phone number?
« on: December 29, 2010, 12:08:39 AM »
What's the cheapest (or best, if that's not cheapest) way to keep a phone line with voicemail?
I'm thinking pageplus $10 for 120 days, is there any better option?

Question is if listening to voicemail (from a different phone?) would be considered using it.

Witt AT&T you would need to add $100 to your phone to keep the number active for 1 year
Try 3jam.com a bit cheaper

Sounds like a non-free version of Google Voice...

Yes, it is. But it allows you to port your number - GV does not, You can forward your calls internationally.
I use it as I travel a lot and was tired of $100/mo cell bills even when I was not in the US during the month. I now forward to an international cell phone when abroad & to a AT&T pay as you go when in the US - you can forward your sms' too.

If only GV had forwarding.

It's a test, some accounts only. It would be great for number parking.

Repost. Let's try to keep the discussion in one place.

Granted you're right, this is probably a cheap way to park a phone number.

I think so, $20 with unlimited calling (assuming you have a phone to forward to and you just need that number).
