Author Topic: HELP!! I just spilled a cup of water on my PC (Read 3530 times)

The title says it all...
Clumsy old me...spilled water all over my laptop.
Quickly turned it over and wiped it down and blow dryer the water. I quickly shut it down.
What do I do now?
I haven't tried turning it back on yet..

PLEASE HELP...:-(

Sick it in bucket of dry rice and let it sit day or two

If your phone gets wet, leave it overnight in a bag of rice. It'll attract an Asian, who will fix it for you...

I wiped it down and now it's sitting upside down standing in a "v".
I'll leave it like that for a day..hope it works.

I read someplace do not use hair dryer as heat will destroy -something in computer -- also stand it up on short end not long end -wait few days b4 re start

Started it up and it works perfectly!!

Now might be a very good time to backup your data, if you haven't yet. Once I drowned a cell phone, and after a week in rice I got it to turn on. B"H I copied out all my contacts then, because a few days later it stopped working altogether.

Just noticed this thread now. I can't help wit the tech issues involved but where did you get the water from? You might be able to sue..

Water was from tap....that was in bottle from a delivery service that delivers water once a month....bottle was in a water cooler...which I purchased in Costco.....which was from a deal I found online...brought it home in my van which I sold already.....so there are lots of people I can sue....PROBLEM IS the water was on my table in a glass...BUT I DONT REMEMBER WHERE I BOUGHT THE GLASS!!!....
Oh Well....there goes my lawsuit!!!
