Has anyone renewed online and still traveled on their current passport while waiting for the new one to arrive?

It says on the online app that the current one is invalidated  immediately upon submission of the app. Any DP otherwise?

I confirmed with the state department that the old passport is indeed cancelled upon submission of the application.

i have a dual passport if i put one on flight reservation would i need to go in with the same passport to that country or i could i use the second passport that was not on flight reservation both are good visa wise just the second passport i can go with express border control and not need to wait in line they will not question why you changed passport ?

In theory yes
However depending on the country it could have you sent to the back room for an interview (example arriving into the US)

Some airlines (VS among others) do allow you to enter 2 travel documents if that helps you

Probably depends where you are traveling to, but iinm it's usually 6 months.

Practically speaking that's correct, technically you could enter the USA with it, you just can't leave.

You can also fly to Israel with El Al or United as long as you are returning before the expiration date.
