How about in his case where he doesn't actually have an Israeli one? Will it still pop up?

I have an Israeli passport (but wasn't born in Israel) and I flew in and out of Israel twice on an expired passport. (American passport was valid though)
It made for a nerve-wracking airport trip and I don't recommend it, but a nice agent can let you through if you're lucky.

That's because they updated there data base around 8-10 years(more or less) ago,
so if you didn't  leave the country  or come in before that time they don't have it linked.

And if you don't have a a israeli  passport  at all, the law is that if your parent/parents are israeli  then you have a status of menditory service  in the army,
So they wanna find out if you are hiding  anything.
I've had a friend  that I was taken  in for a half an hour questioning  to find out if his parents  are israeli. (Btw they were and he passed)
