My brother and a friend had been booked through FRA both ways, and both direct flights opened up for them.

I must say though if you are interested you should definitely consider the 15,000 one way or 30,000 RT addition per pax to go swiss First which I just flew and had the best First I've ever been on. LX has been opening flights recently in F within a few days of the flights.

when continental confirmed for your brother the direct flight 48 hrs. before,did he originally use 115,000 miles or more? was he a gold/platnum or silver? just got off the phone with them ant they told me pretty much that there's no chance to be placed on the direct flight unless we are plats or pay the milege difference $:-\$

What he may mean is that CO opens up availability right before. If you keep checking you may be able to change it. I am not sure if the waitlisting will work if you have no status... I was able to switch to the direct flight on Motzei Yom Kippur after holding a stop-over ticket for the previous six months.

just spoke to them again,they told me unless i actually go down to the airport,they rather fly with empty bf seats

have another 24hrs,gonna keep trying!really don't want to go thru frankfurt when there's availability on the

In my case they actually had lower mileage availability on the website. It sounds like they are not releasing any more seats, in which case you'd have to pay the extra miles or else keep your stop.

If you paid miles for the business and are in coach for the same flight be sure to have them prioritize you at the airport as a displaced BF passenger. Not as an upgrading passenger.

I'm not sure how that would work though if you're not even on that flight at all.

LAX-ZRH is being refitted in the near future according to the LX onboard magazine.

F seats are way better in LX, and I love the thick blankets.

Service is the same by lh or lx.

Fct is too much of a hassle, and lx fcl isn't too interesting, besides their amazing showers...

i'm currently booked with LH business,waitlisted on the direct continental flight,comes up on my reservation as waitlisted but it doesn't look too promising

I found LX service to be much superior to LH service.
Not to mention the bedding/sheets, duvet, pillow, the option to dine sitting across from your travel companion, etc.

Definitely YMMV. For example in my case on LX there were 2-3 FAs for 4 pax. On LH there were 2-3 FA's for 16 pax.
Also LX was very good about having us open the kosher meals and serving it in the box as we requested.
On LH they just handed us our first course plated on china without ever showing us anything sealed.

just wanted to fill you guys in,after waitlisting tonight's flight with no luck i switched my waitlist to thursday morning and just got it confirmed!

so instead of leaving at 5:30 with a stop in frankfurt,we are going direct from TLV to Newark with continental BF. thanks for all the advice/help!

Bf was really a pleasure! i'd say better than Elal, LH, or right up there with Thai business, but then again it's not first :Dplenty of room, full 180-degree bed although the service wasn't the greatest. since i was a last minute upgrade no business kosher meal,but overall a very enjoyable experience. now, i have to hope to pull off getting the same return flight as opposed to a stopover with LH in Frankfurt!

El Al J is nicer than CO BF? I haven't heard such good things about El Al's hard or soft products but I have no first-hand experience.
