Dear Broker:

As you know, during the COVID-19 public health emergency, we have been automatically extending Medicaid, Child Health Plus and Essential Plan cases for an additional 12 months of coverage.  This is to inform you that we are continuing these extensions in accordance with the federal public health emergency.  Medicaid, Child Health Plus and Essential Plan cases with a coverage ending 12/31/22 will be extended for an additional 12 month period.

Anyway to estimate how much insurance would be without signing up? I would want 100% of what Medicare doesn't cover.

IDK about Illinois, but I don't see why it would be different than NY. Medicare eligible people cannot purchase individual plans on exchange.

There's Medicare, Medicare supplements or Medicare Advantage. Those are via CMS (or a Broker/Rep that deals with Medicare plans). I made a conscious decision several years ago not to get into this field, as it is a field one should specialize in if they choose to serve that market.

You won't find anything that will cover as much and/or cost less. Though you are likely paying for a lot of duplicate coverage.

Obviously. It's a decision you need to make whether you want to pay for something that you have at best a 10% chance of ever needing (I pulled that figure out of thin air - the bottom line is that most Americans 65 and older only have Medicare and supplements).

If you decide that $690/mo for the peace of mind of having a Cadillac plan is worth it for you, just make that decision (one way or the other) and don't look back or agonize about it.

DW handles all medical, but I can't resist.   
It was simple to pull totals for the year. I guess I feel better now.
This year gov plan was 620 x 12 = 7440
It paid out 8750.

Overall $690/mo isn't expensive. However, wouldn't those expenses be covered by Medicare (which presumably you also pay for).

My gov plan is now secondary since I am retired. It paid out 8750 after the Medicare part. 2k of that was for prescriptions.

I guess what I am asking is 690/mo good for a supplement plan that picks up 100% of what Medicare doesn't pay and also has a prescription benefit. It seems you are saying yes?

Thanks, will have DW check it out. Did a little just now and they all seem in the 150-175/pp range and that seems low.
Would need a prescription plan also.
