It also looks like adwcleaner removed my Pocket extension (I was using an old version that can't be found by searching for extensions). Anyone know how I can get it back?
which version was it?

Yes but I like the old version better.
which version was it?
see https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/3dej4y/anywhere_i_can_find_the_old_pocket_extension/
It was the version where you clicked the icon and a list popped up showing you the last 10 or so articles.
I'll check out that link and see if it's the right one

Yes
Unfortunately I can't debug this error any longer as that computer seems to have died in the interim :(

Yes

Well, that's the issue. You need to either get more RAM, close some tabs, or remove some extensions.

I got that error with not so many tabs open (around 5)

I wonder if the ram was my problem - I ran Windows Memory Diagnostics and it came back fine, so I was assuming it was the hard drive. (more details, in case you're interested)

:( :( :(

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tab-groups-removal
In the article there are 3 very important points.
  • ANy existing tabs in groups will become bookmarks. What a pain.
    Quote
All your existing Tab Groups will be bookmarked automatically and stored in the Bookmarks folder. You will be able to access them by clicking the Bookmarks button Bookmarks-29 in the toolbar.
  • There is an add-on already available which uses the current code to keep the feature.
    Quote
If you want a direct replacement for the Tab Groups feature, try the Tab Groups add-on. It was created directly from the Firefox code and works just like the current feature. It will be as if the feature was not removed from Firefox. This add-on aims to fully replace Tab Groups in Firefox, providing a similar and hopefully even enhanced experience. You can install Tab Groups from the Add-ons website.
  • By installing this add-on before the update (not sure if I would call it an upgrade) it wil take over the tab feature already now and the tabs will not become bookmarks.
    Quote
If you install the add-on before you update to Firefox 45:
    • Your Firefox Tab Groups will be automatically migrated to the add-on.
    • Firefox won't turn your groups to bookmarks as described above.
If the only difference is the need to use an add-on then it is not so bad.

Cool! I don't remember reading that section before - so either they changed the article, or I'm losing it. Or both.

Go to about:preferences, check "Warn me when closing multiple tabs".  Then attempt to close firefox :)
