My United Mileage Plus Account got shut down!!

I guess it is a gamble and huge risk if I book flights for my  family members who have different last name and lives in another  state!
If they shut you down, cancel ticket and make you explain, it would be a huge hassle. Hate them over doing this.
  Sometime ago, I ask  a question in a blog about booking awards for a relative in AA forum. I received an email same day claiming to be from AA and warning me to shut down my account if i do anything wrong. They never had my email  address. I guess they  found me out with IP address.

I replied back saying what the heck did I d o wrong to get this warning  about nothing? Never got a reply.

Nope, I haven't book awards for anyone other then myself. Neither have anyone else I know. I am just saying how unneccesery it is for them to be tough

Sure.  AA is the worst, but all airlines have audit departments these days.

I couldn't sign in, called up, they told me it was permanently closed but didn't know why. The best they could do was give me an email address for corporate security, whom of course did not respond.

Any update? This just happened to a relative of mine that never sold a mile in their life. The only activity with United was a first United account that got the 55k bonus.
(Was recently sold to a broker, but never used. Maybe the brokers ip was traced?)

What I meant by never sold was never sold and used. United doesn't tap my phones.

No way they can consider miles bartered just because he gave a third party access to his log in credentials.

They don't have to. They can, according to their T&C, shut him down for the appearance of impropriety.

That fact, coupled with the fact that his account was accessed by a known miles broker, who has a history of breaking the airline's T&C, is enough.

Especially, when he's asked to testify under oath.

Broker just confirmed with me that the travel agent logged in with a "dirty" ip. Their loss.
