foreign exchange fee
« on: December 14, 2014, 02:26:55 PM »
Which is the best card to use for transactions abroad? Obviously one without a FE fee but which bank gives the best exchange rate?
In my experience it SEEMS that chase was giving a better rate that Barclay. Still has to be verified 100%. Whats other people's experience?
(I cant find this discussed elsewhere on the forum)

I'm pretty sure the rate is determined by Visa/MC/Amex. If so, no difference between banks.  I don't have any chase cards with no forex fee.  Arrival is MC.  SP is now Visa, no? So hard to test.

he's writing that he doesn't have any Chase cards without a Forex fee
BTW by chase it's usually either; annual fee or foreign transaction fee. I don't think they have any cards with neither.

How do visa/mc/amex compare to spot rate?
Do they all use mid market rate for the day or do they mark it up?
