MR - BA promo!!!! 40% till January 31st

Based on Dan's post, it seems like your math makes sense. Sorry I don't know more to offer advice.

I just looked into it and do not think it actually makes sense for me.

With AA, i can fly TYO-HKG-JFK in F for 62.5k pp.
With BA, it would be 20/30k in J/F TYO-HKG and then 105k HKG-JFK pp.

Don't think it makes sense to use all those extra miles pp. I also happen to have a lot of AA from this past summers Citi Exec fun.

For EZE with Rafi in 2012 I booked myself with BA to take advantage of 10% miles and my wife with AA miles.

Though since then we just book seats for infants. Safer and far more enjoyable.

Is there a post or thread where it's discussed how to get from ny to London on miles ? We have a wedding coming up in London and I need a bunch of tickets. 
From what I have read so far. Flying into or out of London will hit me with alot of taxes.

If you use avios on a regular basis (and many of us do)  this is huge

I used 3 Avios short haul trips this year and haven't come close to using up just the miles on 1 card for myself and 1 card for my wife.

Might be somewhat less YQ if you fly into DUB and go from there to LHR.

If you want BA points or feel you will use it transfer now until the end of year 2015. IMO at least..

MR is worth around 1.4 - 1.5
& BA around 1.1

Based on these valuations, aren't you ultimately getting 1.54 cents of value for each MR pt that you transfer to BA under this promotion? (1.1 x 140%)

Understood. And you could likewise get much more than 1.4-1.5 value from MR as well.  The BA promo is obviously good for those who plan on using those BA pts, or who use them a lot. But even if you don't have plans to use them, you're not really losing much resale value, and you may even be gaining some, by converting MR with a 40% bonus.
