I'll probably be doing all my shopping on Jet.com once they open tomorrow. 20%-50% off any website. Sounds like a great site.

I wonder how returns work? Do you return to Jet or to the site that shipped the item?

No reason not to take advantage while it's being subsidized, but 20-50% off isn't real except on a small handful of items.

That was obvious long ago during the Kirkland debate.

I don't think WSJ is biased but I do think they made an invalid correlation to the dot com boom.
And the commenters who haven't had a chance to try the site, let alone have any clue how it works, don't exactly sway my opinion.

Actually it was obvious when I stated flat out that I had a bias long before that.  As did you.

Regardless, I didn't hide my own bias. And I'm not the only one who posted a negative experience with Jet.

Regardless the WSJ article isn't good for Amazon (short-term) and it isn't good for Jet (long-term). So even if someone thinks the WSJ can be bribed to post an article (hint: they can't) who exactly is gaining here?

I disagree with the correlation to dot com boom, this case is much different.

Elon Musk was handed billions and lost billions before Tesla and Spacex were successful.
Marc Lore is no Elon Musk, but he is one of the few that has a chance to launch a successful ecommerce site that can gain 20b in revenue in 5 years.

Investors will probably know within the year if Jet has a very good shot at staying around.
If it's a failure, they'll collectively lose less than a billion dollars, which is nothing compared to what they stand to gain.

Amazon practically ran diapers.com out of business and bought them on the cheap. Those coupons were amazing for consumers, I got dozens of free cases of diapers.

That experience means that Jet is going to be a $20B company?

As the WSJ points out, they're going to need a crazy amount of people to buy paid memberships for their model to work.  Sure seems like a long-shot to be around in 5 years to me.

B. This article is very bad for Amazon short-term. An article in the WSJ is going to bring tons of traffic to Jet. Especially because they're selling heavily subsidized goods.

1) Consumers win.
2) Some investors take big risks when they have extra money with low interest rates.
3) Some people are dumb. Some people on here as well.
4) Google black helicopters and tinfoil hats.
