What is it considered?
For award redemptions it's considered Europe. However recent revenue tickets purchased in deeply discounted economy did include 2 checked bags.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Alitalia Is Expected To Run Out Of Cash Within A Month

I remember them being in very dire situation a couple of years ago, which is when Etihad stepped in (or increased their investment).

From the article it's obvious that they have a problem with Low Cost competition. IMO another one of their problems is the FCO hub, not a great airport to transit through.

I have tickets with alitalia in April. Is there a chance they will still be flying or should I just think of making Pesach myself?

Worst case scenario, I think there are a couple more airlines around.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

How long ago did you buy your tickets?

There are some travel insurance policies out there that would protect your from financial default of the airline (though on occasion they might exclude certain airlines), buy usually that coverage is only provided if purchased within a certain period of paying for travel.

I booked in November from TLV - JFK for about $500 a ticket.
Does the insurance put you on another airline or they jut refund?
It was booked with amex so I hope they will refund me.

I don't have any experience with this kind of insurance (financial default of an airline is not that common).

I would assume that they reimburse you, I really don't know. There are websites that aggregate travel policies so you can see what's available and compare. I've checked insuremytrip.com a couple of times when I was looking into getting coverage for myself or others.

If kicking the can down the road would be introduced to the Olympics, the Europeans would ace the game, though it would be tough competition between the Italians, the French, and the Belgians.

Looks like mostly European flights affected
812/815 between FCO and TLV are affected, but other TLV flights aren't listed, nor are NYC or MIA flights. That being said it is Alitalia, and Italian unions, so anything can happen.
