This is what I got from my TA

Alitalia said Friday it has filed for bankruptcy protection, taking the first step in a plan to restructure and downsize Italy's failing national carrier.
The company said its board had asked the government to appoint an administrator and had declared insolvency to a Rome court.

Augusto Fantozzi, a tax law expert and former finance minister, is expected to be tapped as the government-appointed administrator.

The government and others involved have been secretive about the negotiations to save the state-run carrier, but the plan reportedly envisages the breakup of Alitalia into two parts.

The profitable assets will be taken over by a group of Italian investors ready to inject $1.5 billion into the airline. The bad assets will be spun off into a separate company for liquidation.

The plan is the latest attempt by the government to sell its 49.9% stake in the loss-making airline following a failed bid by Air France-KLM earlier this year.

AZ North America to TLV in J is 48k OW (80k RT IINM), you can top off with MR. Terrible website, but if you happen to find availability (before you lose patience with the site), it's not a bad deal (and rumor has it that their J product is decent).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Do you happen to know the YQ off hand?

Search by route (if you have patience for the website) https://award.alitalia.com/SSW2010/AZBZ/webqtrip.html?lang=en_US&pointOfSale=EN

Here's an example:

They are partially owned by EY, so they also make redemptions (and earning) available on airlines in its group like JU, AB, 9W and EY (possibly others). Though partner redemptions are more expensive in miles, but sometimes no or low YQ.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

With Alitalia young (People under 25 or who claim they are under 25), You get back a 20% rebate of the miles you spent so TLV-NYC RT in J is 64k miles

Can you redeem for a third party? Do you get rebate then also? Do you get rebate also for partner awards?

It's excellent IME, except for the entertainment system.

Traveling JFK-FCO-TLV with a 33 lb. carryon. Any way to pull that off?

Not a problem at all. Just don't show them the carry on at check in. If you only have the carry on and no checked bags, you can proceed directly to the security check point at Ben Gurion and skip the check in.

Thanks! I am checking a bag, though I suppose just leave my carry-on with someone out of their sight.

Booked a flight back in November and obviously selected the front row. However, after online check-in, I see that they switched my seat to the very last row.

This flight is from FCO to JFK.

Two questions:

I’m checking a bag, and have Global Entry. So, would this even impact how fast I can leave the airport?

What’s the best way to handle this? Over the phone or at the airport?

TIA.
