Best Business Card for flights
« on: December 24, 2014, 02:31:39 PM »

Been following DDF for a while and caught a roadbump for my next business card... figured this is a common concern- so I started a thread
Basically- I have  enough starpoints for now. I also have a good amount of Chase UR points.
While the transfer at 20 for 25 is good on Starwoods, and I love the UR flexibility, was wondering if there was a better option at this point for flights awards.

So for next card:
- Need to prioritize flights (as im covered for hotels for the most part and am loyal SW platimum)
- most of the spending will not be staples, etc. It will be pretty generic spending (random suppliers/ retailers) of about 200k/yr.
- I'd like to get avios, as most of my travel is domestic
- Would like some degree of purchase protection, but not entirely necessary.

If we decide that Starwoods is best for flights (via utilization of the 25 for 20k with BA)- can business and personal accounts be linked ?
Any other suggestions for a solid business card for these purposes and general purchases?

Does BA Visa have business option?

Feel free to add on to any concerns that may be missing.

There's no BA Business card in the US.

However the Chase BA consumer card earns 1.25 Avios per dollar.

So if you're going to primarily use the points for BA, you would get the same value points-wise from the BA card vs SPG (actually a little better since you don't need to transfer chunks of 20k to get the 5k bonus). And you don't have to wait for the transfer to go through when you're ready to book.

But Starpoints are much more flexible if you don't want to use for BA.

It's also worth looking into Amex BRG to see if your spending would fall in any of its bonus categories making it a better value for you. MR also transfer 1:1 to BA. There are many MR airline transfers as well (including BA), although not as many as SPG.

True, but you can't rely on promos.
