Has anyone been to the UAE with an Israeli passport, or a US passport that says born in Israel?
Is it a problem?

US passport born in Israel is not a problem entering the UAE.

My company is hosting a trip for the top sales folk for a weekend in Abu Dhabi. It's all expenses paid for the employee and their sig other. Is this feasible for a religious Jew? Issues to deal with:

- Kosher: Can a company obtain kosher meals catered within Abu Dhabi?
- Shabbos: The hotel is the Ritz in Abu Dhabi. Would there be any way to accommodate the needs of a Shabbos observer (auto lights, temp, etc.)?

Are there any other things to take into consideration?

That's my normal plan. Being that this is a big company with a whole event planning operation going on, I'm wondering if there is any catering company that would provide Kosher, or if I'll be on my own.

Also not sure that staying over here for Shabbos is the best plan. Just a pity to turn down an all expenses paid high end vacation... Last year it was in Hawaii!

Have you looked on KosherWhere?  Maybe your company can make arrangements with Hermolis?

Better to ask there or similar thread in the Up In the Air section of the forums. This is for "on-the-ground" planning for the destination.

been looking and looking and looking and didnt find so i was thinking the same way dan has best use of points to israel and other such articles that maybe something existed for each carrier, not only EY. maybe threads for carrier specific like fuel surcharges on partner, best partner points/miles to use...

They shouldn't care for a stop over but might not give you a visa to leave the airport.

If the visa was on your US passport, you should be fine. They could always find out (if it's in your bags they can search you), but I doubt they'd care. I'd never lie to them but if it doesn't come up, so be it.

According to Wikipedia, UAE doesn't admit Israeli passport holders, but would allow them to transit. This is likely not enforced especially if you don't literally show your Israeli passport. I'd suggest keeping your Israeli passport out of the equation and just getting the visa on your US passport.
