Topic Wiki

There are no Credit Cards that will cover Liability.
Visa, Amex, MasterCard and Discover will cover Loss Damage Waiver / Collision (CDW/LDW)

Cards that cover CDW/LDW in Israel:
Chase: Sapphire Preferred ($95 annual fee)
American Express Gold $195AF
Discover (accepted in Israel as Diners' Club): More, Open Road, Miles, Motiva (none have annual fees)   Policy link

You must present at the time of rental a copy of your policy or a document from the CC company stating that the insurance coverage applies to Israel . You will still have to purchase 3rd Party Liability, but you will save some shekels and have no deductible for damages.

Visa phone number : 800-VISA-911

Visa does NOT cover:
  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Mercedes GL series (they do cover GLK)
  • Mercedes E class
  • Corvettes
  • Camaro ZL1

AMEX premium will charge $24.95 per rental and they cover:
  • Up to $100K for damage or theft and accidental death or dismemberment coverage ($250,000 for California residents), up to $15,000 for excess medical expenses per person, and up to $5,000 for excess personal property coverage ($15,000 for Florida residents)
  • Any car from Mercedes, pickup trucks, Porsche and 15 passenger vans.
  • There's no need to pay for the full amount with money, even if it's with points or coupon rental and you pay just $2 fees they will still cover you.

Those that do NOT have a credit card insurance, here is an alternative:  https://worldwideinsure.org.

Interesting scenario came up and was looking for input on the matter.
Person A was driving his car and person B hit him, insurance got him a replacement rental car. While driving the rental replacement a third person hits/run person A (the rental). The credit card doesnt cover because the bill was sent to insurance company of person B. What options does he have? Who will be responsible to pay?

Real shot in the dark here but I'm desperate! Returning a month rental (rented on sp) tomorrow. Tonight, came home from a menorah lighting an hour away and left my wallet in the car. (Took it out to pay tolls). Lots of money in there. Any cards cover things stolen from in the car??

probably not, but your renters/ homeowners insurance very possibly does.

The home/renters policies have a limit on coverage for cash.

CC insurance only covers of the rental was paid for with it.

Geico is covering $50 a day. If say I take a rental that would cost me $51 a day and pay the extra dollar with my spg would that suffice?

sapphire preferred gives you primary, amex - if you pay $25 will give you primary and more coverage

I am looking to rent a car and there is a whole line of different insurances:

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

Special Coverage

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)

I am not such a big בקי in these insurances but if I were to go with the amex option for 24.95 will i be covered for all that i need (meaning all that is listed above)?

I called to ask if the regular card benefit covers convertibles they told me only cars up to 50k....

Amex will only cover you for CDW

Doesnt the regular cc cover you for that for free anyway? What is the benefit of paying for the additional amex for?
