There are no Credit Cards that will cover Liability.
Visa, Amex, MasterCard and Discover will cover Loss Damage Waiver / Collision (CDW/LDW)

Cards that cover CDW/LDW in Israel:
Chase: Sapphire Preferred ($95 annual fee)
American Express Gold $195AF
Discover (accepted in Israel as Diners' Club): More, Open Road, Miles, Motiva (none have annual fees)   Policy link

You must present at the time of rental a copy of your policy or a document from the CC company stating that the insurance coverage applies to Israel . You will still have to purchase 3rd Party Liability, but you will save some shekels and have no deductible for damages.

Visa phone number : 800-VISA-911

Visa does NOT cover:
  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Mercedes GL series (they do cover GLK)
  • Mercedes E class
  • Corvettes
  • Camaro ZL1

AMEX premium will charge $24.95 per rental and they cover:
  • Up to $100K for damage or theft and accidental death or dismemberment coverage ($250,000 for California residents), up to $15,000 for excess medical expenses per person, and up to $5,000 for excess personal property coverage ($15,000 for Florida residents)
  • Any car from Mercedes, pickup trucks, Porsche and 15 passenger vans.
  • There's no need to pay for the full amount with money, even if it's with points or coupon rental and you pay just $2 fees they will still cover you.

If I rent a car domestically (US) and deny the car insurance from the agent, but im using my amex to purchase the rental car, im covered..But my question is, what happens if I let my wife drive the car, and shes not on the rental agreement, only I am,  is she covered?

If it's legal for her to drive it as a spouse then usually she'd be covered but with these issues best to call the cc company and ask.

I submitted a claim for car rental damage in Israel with Amex. The car rental companies here charge 17% VAT for damages, and now Amex claim they only cover the damage but not the taxes. I never had such an issue with chase. Did anyone have a similar situation? Is there anything I can do about it?

Crazy, who will rent with amex anymore? Do you have the t&c to check?

I checked on an amex card and it excludes taxes unless required by law to reimburse.

Seems no reason to use an amex card to rent in Israel, Dan should post this on main site.

She is allowed in most States. There was a discussion about it somewhere upthead.

You don't need the law to dictate that, if the rental company allows, its covered as well.

It definitely depends on the state... I'll need to search it

Here's from Enterprise

https://www.enterprise.com/en/help/faqs/additional-driver.html

Note: State law in California, Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, Oregon and Wisconsin allows a spouse to be an automatic authorized driver provided they meet minimum age and driver's license requirements

Alamo

https://www.alamo.com/en_US/car-rental-faqs/additional-driver.html

Note: State law in California, Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, Oregon and Wisconsin allows a spouse to be an automatic authorized driver as long as age and driver's license qualifications are met.

That being said I do remember being told in NY that a spouse can drive as well.

Credit Card Car Rental Insurance

If I redeem UR points for a car rental any way to still get coverage from CC?
I'm considering renting a car using UR points. Because I'm not paying with a CC, they obviously won't insure the rental. Will my regular insurance cover both collision and liability?

Just saw this. I believe you will still get the coverage of the card if you booked with UR from that account. Send an SM to make sure.

An example of what I was saying: With Hertz, IINM any gold member can have their spouse drive too, in that case the spouse will be covered too. No matter if the law dictates that one's spouse can drive, or not.

If a business owner has a CSR and gives out au cards to employees to use on rentals, and the business pays off the card, is the car covered under collision coverage, or does it not apply because it's a business use on a personal card?

It'll be covered, but T&C likely state otherwise, so it may not be smart to say that's what it's for.

I saw on the website that it covers for personal use, but the t&c say nothing about using for business and getting reimbursed
