There are no Credit Cards that will cover Liability.
Visa, Amex, MasterCard and Discover will cover Loss Damage Waiver / Collision (CDW/LDW)

Cards that cover CDW/LDW in Israel:
Chase: Sapphire Preferred ($95 annual fee)
American Express Gold $195AF
Discover (accepted in Israel as Diners' Club): More, Open Road, Miles, Motiva (none have annual fees)   Policy link

You must present at the time of rental a copy of your policy or a document from the CC company stating that the insurance coverage applies to Israel . You will still have to purchase 3rd Party Liability, but you will save some shekels and have no deductible for damages.

Visa phone number : 800-VISA-911

Visa does NOT cover:
  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Mercedes GL series (they do cover GLK)
  • Mercedes E class
  • Corvettes
  • Camaro ZL1

AMEX premium will charge $24.95 per rental and they cover:
  • Up to $100K for damage or theft and accidental death or dismemberment coverage ($250,000 for California residents), up to $15,000 for excess medical expenses per person, and up to $5,000 for excess personal property coverage ($15,000 for Florida residents)
  • Any car from Mercedes, pickup trucks, Porsche and 15 passenger vans.
  • There's no need to pay for the full amount with money, even if it's with points or coupon rental and you pay just $2 fees they will still cover you.

Those that do NOT have a credit card insurance, here is an alternative:  https://worldwideinsure.org.

K sorry haven't read through entire thread, but always hoped I wouldn't have to...
Anyway, I have a rental from hertz Las on Chase IP, (don't have sp, and left umpe at home as I don't use it for spending...) and got a flat. I was unable to change myself (I know), and had to pay a guy. Also, returned car on empty (i know again). What am I covered for, and what can I expect hertz to charge me?

Visa insurers flat tires. Was it a visa rental?

I rented a car from Hertz at TLV using a Chase United Visa card. I didn't have a print out that this card covers CDW and Hertz insisted that I put their CDW on the contract. They told me that I can bring the CWD proof  when I return the car and they can modify the contract then. With my family looking over my shoulders after a long flight I did the stupid thing and instead of calling Visa to email me a proof I agreed to the hertz conditions and drove off. Once settling down at our friends apartment, I did call Visa and received the email proof about the coverage. Sure enough two days ago someone bumped the car while it was parked in Tzfat. Will hertz honor their word and modify the contract to the chase coverage when I return the car or will I have to pay the hertz deductible which is quite a bit of money? Thanks

Thanks for cheering me up, but at the end they removed the CDW fees from the rental when I returned the car ;D. Now I just have to file with Chase

I rented a car from Hertz using UMPE on 6/29 for the summer vacation, & I’m supposed to give it back in the coming days. So it is a Multi Month rental & hertz says that they make a new rental agreement every 31 days (I saw it on a multi month contract, but I don’t see it on my contract because by mistake my rental was only for 61 days, the customer service reps & my agent claims that if I return it later than 62 it automatically converts to a multi-month & then I should have a new contract)

I made a minor accident in the beginning of the rental period & I didn’t make any police report for the accident, I went down together with the other driver to the precinct & they said that they can only make a report on the scene of the accident so now our only option is to make a civilian casualty report. When the other driver went to collision shop, the shop told him that he can’t claim with a civilian casualty report & the only way to claim is that my insurance would call me & ask me if the accident happened, but I don’t know how this will work with rental insurance. I would also like to know how to proceed with the return as the front bumper needs to be replaced & later on in the rental period it also got scratched in a few places.

I got a few questions:
1) As I didn’t make a police report how can the other car that got damaged claim the insurance?
2) Will the CC cover the damage for my car?
3) Do I need to call chase before the return?
4) As I don’t have a police report, maybe I shouldn’t tell them that I had a accident with another vehicle & just tell them that I crashed into a gate? (then I’ll have to pay for the other vehicle with my money :( )

As it’s the first time I rented I car I don’t know all the details, please help me.
TIA

You do need some help...
Firstly the insurance from cc will not cover the other car. It covers your car.
If you own a car your own insurance covers the other car.
a police report is not needed afaik.
If you dont own a car then i dont know how it works.

Maybe someone else can help with the.multi month. Generally cc will only cover rental less than a month.but it looks like hertz may break it up.

Hertz doesn't have insurance on their vehicles that covers other cars? How are the legal to drive around if they don't have insurance?
If I get a new agreement then I can tell them the real story even without a police report?
Will hertz give me a new agreement via email?

Hi,

I'm traveling with my husband and two kids B'H to Maui in July. We are looking to a rent an SUV for the course of our stay on the island. I had some questions regarding both the credit card and coverage for the rental.
1. Should I book the reservation using my Chase Freedom, Chase Ink Plus, or the American Express Blue Cash Preferred card?
2. Once I book the rental reservation, is it necessary to purchase additional insurance through the rental company? I just want to make sure that if gd forbid any damage occurs, I would have coverage.

Thank you so much for all your help!

Hi, I booked a car with Budget and declined additional coverage. I used an American Express SPG card, and I also have Liberty mutual insurance on my personal car at home. Am I covered through the regular insurance? If not, will amex cover me? Is there anything I can do to make them cover? Is it better than my regular insurance if it covers? Thanks!!

From the wiki:

There's no need to pay for the full amount with money, even if it's a points or coupon rental and you pay just $2 fees they will still cover you.

Is this true even if I'm only covered through regular CDW? (I'm sorry if this is discussed elsewhere I wasn't able to find it)

(Just got into an accident with rental that my insurance booked for me and is paying all but 5$ of. Will the 5$ on my amex cover my deductuible? They kept saying on the phone that I need all of the rental on my card...

I've seen people report here that in practice, Amex covers even if part of the rental is on their card.

There was discussion of this exact issue a couple of months ago (someone got a car through insurance, paid fee's with csp, and got into an accident). I don't remember the outcome. Paging TimT.
