There are no Credit Cards that will cover Liability.
Visa, Amex, MasterCard and Discover will cover Loss Damage Waiver / Collision (CDW/LDW)

Cards that cover CDW/LDW in Israel:
Chase: Sapphire Preferred ($95 annual fee)
American Express Gold $195AF
Discover (accepted in Israel as Diners' Club): More, Open Road, Miles, Motiva (none have annual fees)   Policy link

You must present at the time of rental a copy of your policy or a document from the CC company stating that the insurance coverage applies to Israel . You will still have to purchase 3rd Party Liability, but you will save some shekels and have no deductible for damages.

Visa phone number : 800-VISA-911

Visa does NOT cover:
  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Mercedes GL series (they do cover GLK)
  • Mercedes E class
  • Corvettes
  • Camaro ZL1

AMEX premium will charge $24.95 per rental and they cover:
  • Up to $100K for damage or theft and accidental death or dismemberment coverage ($250,000 for California residents), up to $15,000 for excess medical expenses per person, and up to $5,000 for excess personal property coverage ($15,000 for Florida residents)
  • Any car from Mercedes, pickup trucks, Porsche and 15 passenger vans.
  • There's no need to pay for the full amount with money, even if it's with points or coupon rental and you pay just $2 fees they will still cover you.

There isn't any 'structural' damage to the car.  I was driving in a very tight parking lot and scratched up the paint on the side of the car (minivan).  The scratches are approximately several inches in length...
Did it have any damage before

Will I be covered if I use a AU Chase United card not in my name, as long as I have a card in my name? (not with me)
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Chase AU have the same account number as the primary account holder. Make some damage to the strip and let them enter the CC number manually so no one will know which card was used.

Don't tell me you're renting from the big boys. What makes you think they'll let you use a card in someone else's name?

EZ Car. Did by mistake. Can they tell which card was used if swiped?

Technically they can. I think that since you're an AU you should be covered but I'm not sure.

AUs are covered, but the primary renter has to be the one with the name on the card.

Correct. But I still think that since you're an AU you might be covered even though you didn't use your card.

Hopefully you'll never need to find out the answer to that question.

AUs are covered, but the primary renter has to be the one with the name on the card.

How is this determined?  Their site says only the renter can drive, not a spouse, for example.

Like I want to use the "pay now" option to get the discount and so that he would get my insurance... I don't mind giving him my cc but would that work?

I'm renting a car in California and paying with CSP. Is there anything else I need to do?

What's my best option for booking in Costa Rica:  Citi Prestige, AmEx BRG, SPG, UA Explorer, or Ink?  I don't have CSP or any AmEx plats.

MP explorer is primary. Some people say that amex is easier to deal with than chase. You may want to use amex premium for pre authorization and pay with ink.

Thanks for the quick response.  Any of them cover additional drivers?
