There are no Credit Cards that will cover Liability.
Visa, Amex, MasterCard and Discover will cover Loss Damage Waiver / Collision (CDW/LDW)

Cards that cover CDW/LDW in Israel:
Chase: Sapphire Preferred ($95 annual fee)
American Express Gold $195AF
Discover (accepted in Israel as Diners' Club): More, Open Road, Miles, Motiva (none have annual fees)   Policy link

You must present at the time of rental a copy of your policy or a document from the CC company stating that the insurance coverage applies to Israel . You will still have to purchase 3rd Party Liability, but you will save some shekels and have no deductible for damages.

Visa phone number : 800-VISA-911

Visa does NOT cover:
  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Mercedes GL series (they do cover GLK)
  • Mercedes E class
  • Corvettes
  • Camaro ZL1

AMEX premium will charge $24.95 per rental and they cover:
  • Up to $100K for damage or theft and accidental death or dismemberment coverage ($250,000 for California residents), up to $15,000 for excess medical expenses per person, and up to $5,000 for excess personal property coverage ($15,000 for Florida residents)
  • Any car from Mercedes, pickup trucks, Porsche and 15 passenger vans.
  • There's no need to pay for the full amount with money, even if it's with points or coupon rental and you pay just $2 fees they will still cover you.

Those that do NOT have a credit card insurance, here is an alternative:  https://worldwideinsure.org.

My Canadian credit card gives me 48 day primary insurance. Is there a card that gives me more than that.

Is there a current list of all credit cards that provide CDW coverage in Israel?
The Wiki does not seem updated.  Thanks

I remember seeing somewhere on forums about some credit card that has liability included in it, maybe from a year ago or so, but cant find it at the moment (tried searching thru google obviously).
Any idea what credit it is?
It definitely wasn't an american bank, I think it was an English bank, but not sure...
thanks
found it here,
http://www.coutts.com/private-banking/banking-services/cards/coutts-silk-card/

The cost for the card is just 350£
Though you gotta be accepted as a client at the bank  ;)

Does MC World Elite provide CDW/LDW insurance?
I have a barclays arrival +, the terms don't seem to exclude Israel.
Here's the link to the terms:
https://gif.barclaycardus.com/servicing/img/base/guideBenefits/BAR-5819-1.pdf

I'm just confused since the header for this thread says it's only Chase Saphire (reserve or preferred) and Amex and everything I'm reading is about Chase v Amex
Thank you in advance for any info

Picked up a rental in Glasgow last week, but they wouldn't let me pay with CSR in my wife's name even though she was there, since I'm the driver. So I paid with my Citi premier (primary overseas), which may be for the best since I reserved a minivan but they didn't have and made me take a 9-seater van.

They tried to sell me a 26 GBP per day policy to reduce my liability to 150 GBP, but I declined. They threatened me that if anything happens they'll put a 5000 GBP hold on my cc, but only 500 if I've already initiated a claim and provide them the # when I return it.

When we came back to the van in a parking lot today, I discovered a scratch and small dent which we're not sure if they were there when we got it or not. Please advise how to proceed - should call the rental agency,  call Citi to start a claim (even with no police report etc.), lower my credit limit so they can't charge me 5000 GBP, wait and see what happens at return, ...?

Also, I now see that Citi doesn't cover loss of use like CSR - will this be a problem?

I am renting a 15 passenger van in America and I see that barclaycard arrival and american express exclude full size vans from insurance.
Is there any credit card that will cover the insurance for a 15 passenger van for personal use or do I need to purchase the car rental insurance?

Im no expert but would suggest contacting the Rental Company and ask if you can change credit Card at the time of pickup. Then try using same card again at pickup to be sure.

On a side note, I have found that if you rent with Amex for insurance, and then at time of dropoff use a different card for final charge, you get refunded the insurance charge.

Hoping this is the right place to post.

I've rented a car in Israel using my Chase Sapphire card. Being that I did not have the physical card on me, the car rental company took an Israeli card as a backup, but agreed to bill my Chase card. I rented the car for a day and made a tiny scratch on one side. As per the examiner, this scratch ended up costing me over $1000.00. The rental company billed my card for the full amount (which I authorized when Chase called to check if it was fraud). The agent reassured me that Chase would cover the full amount and even assisted with uploading the docs on Eclaims.
After back and forth with Chase for a while, they needed to translate the docs etc, they told me that there's an error with my rental agreement. It seems like on both the Initial and Final Rental Agreement the agent mistakenly wrote that he billed my Israeli Visa (last for digits are that card)
Charges were never even made on that card and all was billed on the Chase Sapphire card.
Is there anyway to rectify this? Would documentation from the rental company explaining that the wrong card was placed on file, with corrected contracts help?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Trying to help a relative.

Small fender bender near San Diego. The city doesn't provide police reports for non injury accidents. Rental is from sixt booked on Sapphire Reserve. Was fault of other driver and he has the at-faults driver insurance info and DL.

What's the best way to deal with this? Report to Sixt or wait on them?

Is it possible to obtain CDW with a credit card if paying for the rental using Delta miles, but putting the taxes on the CC? I know that for airline delay coverage, paying taxes on an award booking is sufficient with some CC. Wondering if it's the same here. Thanks!!
