Topic Wiki

There are no Credit Cards that will cover Liability.
Visa, Amex, MasterCard and Discover will cover Loss Damage Waiver / Collision (CDW/LDW)

Cards that cover CDW/LDW in Israel:
Chase: Sapphire Preferred ($95 annual fee)
American Express Gold $195AF
Discover (accepted in Israel as Diners' Club): More, Open Road, Miles, Motiva (none have annual fees)   Policy link

You must present at the time of rental a copy of your policy or a document from the CC company stating that the insurance coverage applies to Israel . You will still have to purchase 3rd Party Liability, but you will save some shekels and have no deductible for damages.

Visa phone number : 800-VISA-911

Visa does NOT cover:
  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Mercedes GL series (they do cover GLK)
  • Mercedes E class
  • Corvettes
  • Camaro ZL1

AMEX premium will charge $24.95 per rental and they cover:
  • Up to $100K for damage or theft and accidental death or dismemberment coverage ($250,000 for California residents), up to $15,000 for excess medical expenses per person, and up to $5,000 for excess personal property coverage ($15,000 for Florida residents)
  • Any car from Mercedes, pickup trucks, Porsche and 15 passenger vans.
  • There's no need to pay for the full amount with money, even if it's with points or coupon rental and you pay just $2 fees they will still cover you.

After a fast search it seems to me that none of the Credit cards offer Car rental protection in Israel, is this correct?

.

.

After a fast search in the wiki I saw that Chase Saphire and Amex Gold cover Loss Damage Waiver/ Collision (CDW/LDW)
Not Liability.

Thanks, Just checked it looks like Sapphire covers, not sure where you found Amex gold.
Anyone knows of more cards or experience?

Btw, I think about Liability, none of the cards offer (including Amex premium protection).

If I booked a prepaid rental with a different credit card than with the the name of the driver picking it up using priceline. Can a different card be used at check in that has CDW coverage as per the rental company , it's the card that they put the deposit on that has to have the CDW coverage. Does this make sense?

In other words if paying just deposit on the card, will it still have CDW coverage?

Put everything on the card with CDW.
When you return the car and you did not have to use the coverage of that card, tell them that you want to use the other card for the charge of the rental.

Thanks. The thing is other card was already charged for priceline prepaid reservation (has cdw but name doesn't match driver) and can't change it. Now will need to give card that matches driver with cdw coverage at time of rental for deposit. Issue is it's 2 different cards (one user for priceline has different name than driver). Just wondering if CDW coverage will still work and how to make it work in this situation?

Just checking to see if you found an answer to this...
Curious to see if you went with your credit card or with the rental company insurance...

I am lost here, I have the following:
Capital one Venture X
Chase Business Preferred Ink
Chase Sapphire Preferred

All of them have the following language in the letter :
*Capital One Venture X* :
This coverage applies in countries other than the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Jamaica, and Israel

*Chase Sapphire Preferred*
This includes the previously excluded countries of the
Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Israel and Jamaica.

So does it means I am not convert when renting in Israel ??

It means the ventureX does not cover EY, the sapphire does.
