Topic Wiki

There are no Credit Cards that will cover Liability.
Visa, Amex, MasterCard and Discover will cover Loss Damage Waiver / Collision (CDW/LDW)

Cards that cover CDW/LDW in Israel:
Chase: Sapphire Preferred ($95 annual fee)
American Express Gold $195AF
Discover (accepted in Israel as Diners' Club): More, Open Road, Miles, Motiva (none have annual fees)   Policy link

You must present at the time of rental a copy of your policy or a document from the CC company stating that the insurance coverage applies to Israel . You will still have to purchase 3rd Party Liability, but you will save some shekels and have no deductible for damages.

Visa phone number : 800-VISA-911

Visa does NOT cover:
  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Mercedes GL series (they do cover GLK)
  • Mercedes E class
  • Corvettes
  • Camaro ZL1

AMEX premium will charge $24.95 per rental and they cover:
  • Up to $100K for damage or theft and accidental death or dismemberment coverage ($250,000 for California residents), up to $15,000 for excess medical expenses per person, and up to $5,000 for excess personal property coverage ($15,000 for Florida residents)
  • Any car from Mercedes, pickup trucks, Porsche and 15 passenger vans.
  • There's no need to pay for the full amount with money, even if it's with points or coupon rental and you pay just $2 fees they will still cover you.

Those that do NOT have a credit card insurance, here is an alternative:  https://worldwideinsure.org.

Call Amex premium insurance and they'll tell you.
It works for any company as long as there is some balance on it, like airport taxes add fees

Got my Ink Bold today, realized that it covers LDW primarily. Is this any different than a United card?
Also says "being used for bussiness purposes" any way for them to prove car was being used for leisure?

I guess Hamotzie Mechaveiro Alav Harayah, so that's my question. Will they ask to prove that it was being used for bussiness?

So does that mean that the Ink and United are the same when it comes to insurance on rentals?
Ink maybe even being better because it covers upto 31 days as oppossed to the United which covers for 15 days in your country of residence.

Another EMES statememt.

How about you need to prove it was on a business trip?

It is never a good idea to rent on a business card.
Love me or hate me. I still love you.

If you total the car they will do a investigation before forking over $30,000.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Think even a sole proprietor can tell the difference between sitting on the beach and doing business.

I agree with that logic.
Just wondering if they actually do investigate that it was bussiness.... or are you just assuming..
basically boils down to which credit card i should offer to close to get my Ink Plus approved. I have th SW, Sapphire WMC, United and Freedom. If the United would be the same as Ink as far as insurance goes, then i would shut United.

I currently have a claim with AMEX (not premium) and they sent me a email about documents they requested from the rental, and this is what they write.

....I have been contacting the Car Rental Company for this information. Once we receive the documents from them, I will provide you with a final decision on your claim.  I will provide another written status update in 30 days if I am still not able to process your claim. If the documents are not received at that time, your claim will be closed until such time that the requested information is received. ....

what does this mean? if the rental will not provide them with those documents will I lose my coverage?
