Topic Wiki

There are no Credit Cards that will cover Liability.
Visa, Amex, MasterCard and Discover will cover Loss Damage Waiver / Collision (CDW/LDW)

Cards that cover CDW/LDW in Israel:
Chase: Sapphire Preferred ($95 annual fee)
American Express Gold $195AF
Discover (accepted in Israel as Diners' Club): More, Open Road, Miles, Motiva (none have annual fees)   Policy link

You must present at the time of rental a copy of your policy or a document from the CC company stating that the insurance coverage applies to Israel . You will still have to purchase 3rd Party Liability, but you will save some shekels and have no deductible for damages.

Visa phone number : 800-VISA-911

Visa does NOT cover:
  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Mercedes GL series (they do cover GLK)
  • Mercedes E class
  • Corvettes
  • Camaro ZL1

AMEX premium will charge $24.95 per rental and they cover:
  • Up to $100K for damage or theft and accidental death or dismemberment coverage ($250,000 for California residents), up to $15,000 for excess medical expenses per person, and up to $5,000 for excess personal property coverage ($15,000 for Florida residents)
  • Any car from Mercedes, pickup trucks, Porsche and 15 passenger vans.
  • There's no need to pay for the full amount with money, even if it's with points or coupon rental and you pay just $2 fees they will still cover you.

Those that do NOT have a credit card insurance, here is an alternative:  https://worldwideinsure.org.

So your saying I'm right that no one covers pickups except amex premium?
AMEX Plat non-premium does.

(or al except amex as per dan)
AMEX confirmed pickups as well on the Plat card.
The confusion is regarding "trucks".

didn't realize that there is a difference in basic coverage between the reg and plat. Now I know, Thanks

When you say confusion you mean on Amex's part? Is there really a tzad that they would cover full size trucks? (Didn't understand what you wrote up thread)

Traveling to israel on 10 days, is that enough time to convert my SP VISA to MC?
It may be that my sole purpose in life is to serve as a bad example

So now that all (I think) chase credit cards cover cdw in Israel even the visa, has anyone used it?
The terms on Israeli rental contracts still say you need a master card world.
Of course I know that you sometimes need a letter of coverage from the cc.
My question is are the rental agents in Israel familiar with this change and honoring it? Or do you have to fight with them explaining that it's a new change?

We are using the sapphire preferred cc for a car rental in Israel. We are returning the car with a slight dent, what steps do we take from here?

In the past (before chase benefits were changed) when requesting a letter of coverage from the credit card for Israel, the letter specifically said Israel. IME under the new changes the letter is generic and they didn't want to specially write Israel. Anyone else have the same?
I hope hertz (who requires a letter) will honor this. Any experience renting with one of these generic letters of coverage?

Yes. (If it wasn't your fault the other driver's insurance would have to pay)

No, that's not my business.
It seems like I did everything on my end, they're just waiting for Enterprise to respond.
Does that make sense? Date of incident was back in September.

It is enterprises job to respond. After they do, you should get an email from enterprise with those documents.
I assume you didn't pay anything for damage. You should be good to go. It's between master card and enterprise at this point.
