paying a mortgage with credit cards
« on: December 29, 2014, 03:59:04 PM »
Is there any way to pay a mortgage with a credit card? I know I've seen in the past mention of pre-paid cards that could be bought at stores like staples and than loaded onto online virtual bank accounts (or something to that nature) and could than be used for mortgage payment.

Can anyone give me the details so I can further research it? I tried the search function on the forums, but I'm not even sure what I'm looking for....

Thanks!

I think you can use evolve, if you have the right card.

Thanks for the tip! So just so I understand, evolve can only be used once per month per biller for up to $999 so if the mortgage is greater than that, the remainder would have to be paid through bank transfer?

Also, what sort of prepaid cards can be purchased to be loaded onto evolve accounts?

no clue. Ive never used it. skim through the thread, and ask there... I'd let this thread die since that's a better place to answer your questions.

I, and others, have had issues when paying the mortgage with Evollve.  If the entire payment does not arrive within the same time frame, the mortgage co will reject all payments.  So I paid my mortgage partially with evolve and partially with BB for a few months, and then must have been careless with the timing one month because it all was rejected and the payments bounced back.
So now I use either: BB (bluebird), Serve, or Target RedCard for the entire payment each month.
Each of those payment methods have their own thread here on DDF.  They are all prepaid Amex cards that can be funded by credit cards and you can pay bills with it on line.

Basically most cards will work. You don't actually 'load' it. You are just making a payment with a debit card. The prepaid or vgc or mc gc functions as a debit card. But like previous poster said, many lenders don't like receiving partial payments and might credit it to principal or reject. SOme will accept if all payments arrive on same day.

Target Prepaid REDcard is best for this. Just go to Target and reload your redcard with your credit card, up to $5000 per month. Then use Redcard to pay your mortgage. It only takes 1 trip to Target to do this. You can initiate the billpay online.

We are currently offering them at www.redcardresales.com if you still need one

He's good at searching. He posted in NJ DO edition thread because someone once mentioned RC.

no news (that i'm aware of)
Serve - as in DDMS - load at RiteAid with  a judiciously bought GC.
BB - as has been done  almost since I got here - load at Walmart with  a judiciously bought GC.
