Tips & Suggestions for long flights / trips in coach
« on: December 30, 2014, 09:12:53 PM »
Given that more newbies are flying longer routes / glitch fares, I thought a comprehensive post with a wiki would be in order:

I travel with a ebags mother lode tls 21 http://www.ebags.com/product/ebags/mother-lode-tls-mini-21-wheeled-duffel/125538?productid=10150071

Always with purrel
wipes for seat, tray etc
chapstick
moisturizer
pills for everything conceivable
backup power sources and a dozen plugs of all kinds
water bottle (i'm curious if any one here does not use airline sink water to wash hands / face due to old tanks or just not drinking)
i usually pack about 4 granola bars and a large bag of pistachio's for protein etc, also usually a few fruits on top of any food I may take

this was great but hurt my neck bc of surgery http://www.amazon.com/CABEAU-Memory-Evolution-Pillow-Small/dp/B00O16B85U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1419990994&sr=8-3&keywords=travel+pillow

i now use
http://www.amazon.com/Kuhi-Comfort-Original-Convenient-Luxurious/dp/B00EXXE86M/ref=cts_ap_2_fbt

im thinking of trying either of these

http://www.amazon.com/Comfy-Basics-Travel-Pillow-Black/dp/B00JMVYEPA/ref=pd_sim_a_6?ie=UTF8&refRID=0YKMTPCQ2C2WRNC7YGHN

http://www.amazon.com/SkySiesta-Burgundy-Travel-Pillow-Pending/dp/B00GBGK6EC/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1419991041&sr=8-12&keywords=travel+pillow

can you advise on which of these ? http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=travel%20socks&sprefix=travel+so%2Caps

curious if any one used this

http://www.amazon.com/Set-Inflatable-Travel-Footrests-Circulation/dp/B003J21SZ2/ref=pd_sim_a_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=0J4EERSFT43H7J5TTJ47

I use my backpack turned over to cushioned side but i need to take out my tefillen first and need a perfect solution

Does any one use a cushion either for their back or under their butt ?

still seeking the perfect eye mask, suggestions ?
still looking for a small when folded but large effective blanket

My modus operandei is so much simpler.
1) check-in
2) head for the lounge
3)down enough alcohol drinks that your head is spinning
4) proceed to have an enjoyable flight

Always with purrel
wipes for seat, tray etc
chapstick
moisturizer
pills for everything conceivable - a few tums, Tylenol, allergy pills are a good start
backup power sources and a dozen plugs of all kinds - got free units from anker for reviews. Took the rest fro my office
water bottle (i'm curious if any one here does not use airline sink water to wash hands / face due to old tanks or just not drinking)
i usually pack about 4 granola bars and a large bag of pistachio's for protein etc, also usually a few fruits on top of any food I may take
I take a double dose of probiotic 2 days before and 2 days after flight
To sleep, ive been trying 2 bags of sleepy tea with honey but now im trying to avoid the plane hot water too
I drink as much water and orange juice as I can
Hoodie with a zipper, nothing sucks like trying to pull on or off a hoodie on a packed plane
pj's, change of clothes, all toiletries in carry on.. I take my shoes off, put on pj's at night to sleep, change to fresh clothes when I awake unless plans to shower at destination.

this was great but hurt my neck bc of surgery http://www.amazon.com/CABEAU-Memory-Evolution-Pillow-Small/dp/B00O16B85U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1419990994&sr=8-3&keywords=travel+pillow

true, but im trying to address the very basics, i'm updating my post as I go along. Keep in mind, people book trps like JFK - JNB with 15 hours at CDG snd thing great i'll explore paris, wake up at CDG feeling like crap or 0 sleep and not only did you kill that but your rest of the trip will be pure hell

I saw somewhere it suggested buying an inflatable beachball instead of one of these
http://www.amazon.com/Skyrest-SkyRest-Travel-Pillow/dp/B000VKP6VW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1420031636&sr=8-4&keywords=airplane+inflatable+pillow

I tried it and it definitely helped my sleeping a bit but I would guess that the fabric cover on the pillow is nicer than the plastic feel of the beachball.
My mother used the beachball by putting in just a drop of air and then using it as a back pillow and she found it very helpful.

Benadryl?  ;)

Be aware: Benadryl can have the opposite affect on some kids. Test it BEFORE you fly to make sure you don't drug your kid into a frenzy on the flight.

When I gave my kid medicine (with a dr's ok) she slept 2 hours & was up the rest of the flight.
