URGENT- history of departures from VCE
« on: December 31, 2014, 09:55:02 AM »
Hi,
I'm new here, though I'm well aware of the amazingness of this forum.
I an currently in the process of filing a large complaint against Lufthansa.... Long story - in short I had 2 flights cancelled out of Venice, Italy and was stranded in the airport for 36 hours.
They are claiming "extreme circumstances" due to bad weather though I saw a number of airplanes taking off during that time.

I'd like to find some historical data of departures from VCE airport. The relevant dates are February 11th, 2013.

I'd appreciate any help in the matter.

Thanks!!!

Don't forget that bad weather can also be at your destination airport or en route. Check to see if other airlines flew to your destination in the same timeframe.

@dan
I cannot find any historical data on either of those sites. Kudos on the quick reply, though.

@kangarruu
We are talking about approx. 2-3 inches of snow on the runway. problem is it was the first snow in Venice in 15 years. my luck.
I watched from the airplane window (while on the tarmac for 5 hours) a Qatar Airways flight take off while we were waiting and at least another 2 unidentifiable planes departing as well.

I'm surprised you think that! I'm curious what you are basing that on?
This was a 36 hour ordeal that included 2 cancellations (only 1 because of the "snow"), 1 delay, sleeping on hotel benches with an infant, no contact from airline about either cancellation or regarding re-booking, requests to airline personnel were ignored.
Truth is after reviewing Articles of Regulation (EC) 261/2004 I counted 8 violations of regulations AFTER approx 5000 Euro in owed compensation.

No reason.
All flights were as planned. only this flight was cancelled.
I found out at 12:00am and the flight was scheduled for 7:25 am.
I found out myself and spent a bunch of phone hours with airline representatives from the hotel. I have the hotel bill with the list of calls i made totalling 270.40 Euros

@myb821
A lawyer who claims he specializes in airline lawsuits told me the airline cannot claim "extreme circumstances" if other flights were taking off after the scheduled time of departure.

The flightaware staff just messaged me that they can send me that data, but itll cost 175$
Think it's worth my while?

So I negotiated the price to 125$ .
Flightstats claim that they are not allowed to share that information at all.
