What to buy at Mens Wearhouse?
« on: January 04, 2015, 10:52:41 AM »
I received a $200 gift card to Mens Wearhouse and I never shop there.  It looks expensive.  What am I likely to get the best deal on?

I only buy shirts when CT, JAB, or PF is having a sale on non-irons under $40.  If Mens Wearhouse has comparable shirts for under $40 I would buy them.

I buy my suits at Kohls usually - for under $180 I get suits that last me 2-4 years.  I usually pay under $15 for a tie and under $10 for cufflinks if I can find ones I like.

Does Mens Wearhouse have good sales regularly?  I don't mind holding the gift card until a sale comes up if I can expect a good one within 2 or 3 months.  The current promotion ending today has some BOGO items and some shirts on sale but nothing looks excitingly cheap.  The suits are more expensive than I'm used to even when on sale.

Sell the card and use the money to buy a suit that lasts more than 2-4 years.

You provided absolutely no helpful information whatsoever.  And you are probably unaware that selling the card will only net about $140-150.  Thanks.  Anyone else?

The information was helpful; you're just insulted.

You're half right.

You failed to tell me where to buy a suit that will last longer and cost under $140, which is all I will net if I sell the GC.  You also failed to recognize that I might be able to buy a suit that lasts longer than 2-4 years at Mens Wearhouse, so I wouldn't need to sell the card and could get the full value out of it.  And you failed to actually answer either question I asked originally.

Not so helpful IMHO.

Seems like he was reciprocating the negative response to his questions.
