How cool would it be if they suspended Belichek from the super bowl

Not happening. I think the best way they could punish him, though they never will, would be to do something similar to college football and take away cap space

Because....
A player gets caught with the bat gets thrown out of the game. Getting caught with not properly inflated ball means nothing. Also some quarterbacks (AR for one) feel an underinflated ball is a disadvantage.

Agree and some money which won't hurt them much. At a certain point they Need to be penalized for constantly cheating and trying to get around the rules it is bad for the game.
Look at the can of worms this is opening before the superbowl http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/21/brad-johnson-paid-a-bribe-to-tamper-with-footballs-at-the-super-bowl/

And getting caught with 11 underinflated balls that had been inflated earlier means...?

Earlier they checked them when then were warm then in the cold weather they lose pressure. We have the opposite problem with soccer balls.  ;)

Amazingly the weather only affected nearly every Pats ball and no colts balls.

Were the Colts balls checked after the game?

ETA: I hope no one thinks I am defending what they did. Based on their past history there is little to no chance this was an accident. The problem is the rules have no teeth. Have them forfeit the game and this nonsense will stop.

Heard on mike and mike this morning from a ref who had clearly spoken to the refs from the game. He said that the balls were tested at half time and all the patriots balls were under inflated (11 by more than two pounds) while all the colts balls were OK. He assumes that the balls were fixed after this discovery

Irrelevant if it actually impacted. The intent we clearly there edgy rise would they do it. it's like saying someone shouldn't be suspended for steroids because they he was terrible.

I have two theories on how they did it.

Theory one: They inflated the balls right before with very hot air.  Over time, the air cooled and deflated.  But the refs couldn't feel it when they tested, since footballs are fairly insulated.

Theory two: They inflated the balls with 10 lbs of air, and another 3 pounds of some other gas that permeates rubber more easily, so that by game time the other gas had leaked out.
