Author Topic: Amex Biz Gold denied--advice? (Read 3335 times)

I started getting cards in May of 2014. I have 4 so far and my last application was a few months ago. I applied about 12 hours ago for the Amex BizGold and was denied. Credit Score of 727. I called the recon line and they mentioned that submitting a recon request would pull the credit again in case anything positive had changed. That's not going to be the case, it'll have stayed the same, but is there any advice on recon for the Amex Business Gold, or any Amex card for that matter?

You shouldn't get another pull same day. There is a thread on Amex recon which may be of more help to you.

Looks like people have similar experiences with this "underwriting team" and not being able to actually speak to anyone.
Should I end up asking for recon after a month? Given it's the same day should i just apply for another amex card since it'll result in 1 pull?

If you think that for a different card you will be approved, then apply. But why should it be different?
Maybe a personal card. But you may get a 2nd pull. (personal vs business)

Thing is, i'd like to be able to accrue non-chase miles, and i'm going to be doing a fair amount of travel next year internationally. I have the AA card, but I'm wary of Citi pulling the plug on target redbird txns, and so I need a better card to accrue on. SPG seemed like the best for this, but the BizGold 75k would've been superb.

A personal card may be easier to get, so it might be worth a 2nd pull (same day especially).
Wait until later in the day when more people are on DDF and see what the consensus is. And if someone has more advice.

IME and I think most agree, Amex is one pull regardless of personal or biz. Given that, it can't hurt to apply for some personal cards.

A Personal is always easier to get you can find a 50K with only 1k of spending.

Which amex to get then? Platinum I am an authorized user with global entry already so not much benefits except points. Spg would help but only 25k. The everyday would get m.s. for $6250 but that's barely over a months worth of redbird loads.

Try one of the card matching sites and see if you can get a different/better offer.

I was "automatically cancelled before the credit history was pulled again". They are seen by the system as duplicates as I was declined already within the day.
This runs contrary to what i read prior though?

If you call same day, you can have them push the application through.
