No. You have to be on a internet plan to upgrade to a smart phone ( I am assuming you're not if you have a basic phone).
-1, you can, just Verizon will charge you a non-refundable upgrade fee of $40.

I've never done this personally, but assuming the tmobil and Verizon technologies are the same, you can order the phone on the Verizon basic line, DON'T ACTIVATE IT OR TURN IT ON OR EVER USE THE SIM CARD THAT CAME IN IT, put in a tmobil sim, and you should be good to go. There's a massive slickdeals thread dedicated to this.

I needed to send my S6 Edge back as all pictures were upside down and the screen wouldn't rotate. Its a known defect that can not be fixed, but Samsung has supposedly fixed it on all models built after May 16th. You may want to hold off on ordering it for another few weeks.

It's way more complicated than that, you can be left with a pending switch/equipment order on the account.

Played around with the s6 Active today. Seems like a really nice device- can't wait to hear battery reports.
Hoping it comes to the other carriers as well.

what kind of insurance plan is advised for such a device?

My research shows that att sprint and verizon are pretty much identical in cost .
On what basis should i choose a carrier? which carrier has best CS? Do they all do a soft pull?

Best carrier should be the one with the best reception where you need it most often

But being as Verizon lte phones come gsm unlocked, they are often the best choice, being as they can be used on Verizon, at&t, and TMobile. The cheapest plans are prepaid mvno's anyways. I've paid about $30 for phone service this year, less than most people spend in a month. And best insurance plans are credit cards, everything else charges high deductibles, has a list of requirements to be met, and are rarely worth the price. Just make sure to use a card that covers loss and damage. I'm sure someone can provide a list.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

I answered about which carrier, not the phone.

The regular s6 battery life time goes downhill pretty quickly.

Am I risking ruining my phone if I use  a charger that didn't come with my s6 to charge it?
