I am not able to find a thread where to post this so here we go.
I am flying out of TLV on Thursday night but Jerusalem announced road closures starting tomorrow so there is a chance I will not be able to make my flight. I am on a United ticket codeshare on SWISS (this is a multi-city ticket with a 10 day stopover in GVA) and United told me they could only accommodate me by making me fly out Wednesday for $1200!
A few questions:
1) Did anyone ever have any kind of luck with the airlines regarding the same kind of problem, even mentioning status?
2) Since it wouldn't be the end of the world if I stay in Israel until Sunday, would I qualify for a fee waived change?
3) My alternate option would be to book a hotel in TLV for tomorrow night, so what would be my cheapest option (I'm guessing this should go in "On the Road", but not looking for specific, just a website or mileage program to use)?
