Anything I can do to revive AA miles that expired in October? Both Avis and Budget claim that they can't award miles for a rental from more than 6 months ago. Do I have any other options?

How far back can the expired points be from? Four, five years ago?

Is there any write-up or article of how this works? Meaning what the qualifications to use such a rental? Does it have to be where you didn't credit the rental to hertz rewards or alike and are free to choose where to credit it to?
