Are lifemiles in use?

I see flights available in lifemiles on avianca, but I have no clue as to the value of lifemiles and don't see them offered anywhere.
Can anyone shed light on this issue for me?

Oh, and united isn't offering those flights as saver bookings.

most likely looking at the Avianca flights will show special availability at a premium price, sometimes double the normal rate. It's a mix of dynamic pricing so more flights on AV / TA metal are offered but at a  higher price.
Sometimes those same flights show up if you just look for Star Alliance flights in the drop down menu. Those flights should be available as Saver awards with United.
